Pretty soon my son starts his senior year and pretty soon he will be 18 years old. take away my "badass" or "hardass" image, and i really am just a mother who loves her children who has tried to lead by example and show them that being independent and strong (and maybe sometimes difficult and fiesty) can lead you down the right paths in your life.
i sincerely hope my stephen enjoys this last year of his high school life and is excited about attending college. he is very smart, has excellent grades, holds a job, has great work ethic, pays for his own car payment, etc. i am very proud of who he is and what he has become as he reaches adulthood. i want him to be as successful as he has the ability to be and live his life to the fullest.
my parents had a "almost a senior" gathering at their home tonight for stephen. when stephen graduated kindergarten, his teacher asked his family members to write him a letter that he could read as he entered his senior year. my mother brought out the envelope and i read the letters aloud as our family was gathered around the table. so very sad to have letters from my popsy, who passed away in jan. of 2017, and my grandma, who is suffering from dementia. stephen was so close to both of them and i am glad that he can have these letters as memories of them. my mother also had us write letters to him tonight to wish him luck in his upcoming year. i read all of those outloud as well.
i remember this time in my life and as i think back, i realized, i was always in a hurry. i always wanted to fast forward to what would come, when i should have been enjoying what i had. and now, almost 40, i want nothing more than to slow time down.
to my son, stephen, do not rush your life. this is the only life we have here on this earth and it needs to be enjoyed and appreciated. i love you tremendously and wish you nothing but happiness and success in your life. #myfirstborn #whitewolf#ilovemyson#motherandson#almostasenior#timeneedstoslowdown
Happy birthday charlie! you are an amazing son, dad and husband (but you will always be my baby). you have been so supportive and strong for me this past year even though you had so much going on in your own life. a mom could not ask for a better son. when we talk i picture that million dollar smile of yours and it brings a smile to me. joe and i love you so much. we hope this year brings lots of love, laughter and nothing but good things. 💜 #happybirthdayson#ilovemyson#sons
