the first pose i'm going to discuss is this leg stretch. you can do it at varying angles if you feel any tightness or pain, if you want a deeper stretch all you need to do is slowly straighten the leg that your are kneeling on while slowly leaning foreard onto your stretched out leg in the process. i love this stretch and i always do it for a few minutes on each leg before going into the splits.

my hypermobile elbows were an obstacle to handstands, but getting a yoga chair made it a possibilities. as you can see, my take off isn't as smooth as i would like it to be, while still curving my back. also, i decided to do this without the wall today so you can see a side angle of the process & to see how i do without the wall. the wall does greatly help with alignment & muscle memory. πŸ’™
hypothyroidism isn't talked about all that much in the spoonie community, or at least not that i have been aware of. having hypothyroidism means that your thyroid isn't producing enough thyroid hormones, so the main result is low energy levels. as if not producing enough energy isn't tiring enough, it is also linked with chronic fatigue, so you can be even more lethargic than normal. before getting diagnosed, i spent literally all day sleeping and could only be awake for no more than a few hours at a time. today, i still suffer from chronic fatigue, but no where near to the extent that i used to. when i have one of those days where i'm too tired to do anything, like today, inversions really help. this yoga chair helps me help my body in 1 minute. inversions are great yoga poses for the thyroid and helps it heal.πŸ’™
yet hypothyroidism isn't just about being tired. the metabolism turns to catabolism. the thyroid affects the entire body. from mood changes, to loss of concentration and memory, to hair loss, to muscle & joint weakness. there is this stigma that if you have any type of illness, that you brought it on yourself, or that it was avoidable if you did "this" or "that". while i share my journey & what helps me, it is important to understand that if you are chronically ill, you did not do this to yourself. illness can hit any of us. you did not chose to be sick, or deserve it. you are doing the best you can, and perhaps a bit too much. you can't be lazy, when it feels like you are running a marathon. πŸ’™
