october 2015 - the first check in pictures i ever took ➡️ may 2018 - my first national show
everyone starts somewhere & sometimes looking back on how far you’ve come is the exact fuel you need to help push you forward. i’m d**n proud of what i’ve accomplished and the person i’ve become, and truthfully sometimes i lose sight of that. but when in doubt: be disciplined, hold the vision, don’t you dare settle for being average, and push yourself to do better - mentally or physically - one day at a time. keep pushing forward & you’ll be amazed at how far you can go. 🙌🏻🌻✨
ps peep that derp face. yas.

Sitting down with @brenebrown again and starting to read dare to lead. i've needed some time to rumble with my shame and keep showing up.
i've never felt shame like i've experienced moving to africa and working in hunger alleviation. if you hear, "you're not enough" or "who do you think you are" in your head all day, you are not alone.
behind my smile everyday is a mind constantly asking the god of the universe, "why does this injustice still exist in the world?" and "will we even move the needle?" "why do i feel tired? my life isn't as hard as theirs?" my shame is a gremlin that coaxes me to strive with pride when i'm up and stay down when i fall. •
but there is still hope. there is still good in the world amongst the bad, and those who do good amongst those who hurt. jesus started his work one imperfect, simple man at a time because imperfect, simple men do move the needle; one man can affect change. keep staring injustices in the face and calling them what they are. keep showing up to lead even when there is fear, uncertainty, and risks involved. •
the hope i find is in the people i serve. the same that fill me with shame because of my white privilege, fill me with hope because they continue to rise. this is a pic from @sustainableagafrica last all farmers meeting a couple of weeks ago. these two farmers won goats for their exceptional performance and are sharing with other farmers encouragement and advice. the young man on the right says he and his family will no longer be in the lowest socio-economic class in rwanda at the next meeting. that's just 3 short months away! •
