Hey #fitness nerds ! this morning i got to do a very cool test… an #rmr test. what is that? well, it is resting metabolic rate test, and is a measure of how much energy your body is expending without incorporating any physical activity. it is meant to measure the amount of energy it takes to meet your #basal needs: breathing, blood pumping, and digestion. ๐Ÿด๐Ÿฅ‘ this test was also cool because i literally did nothing except #breathe . you wear a mask ( #tbh it made me feel like #darthvader ) and the machine measures the amount of #f*t and #carbohydrate that your body is using for energy. this allows it to calculate a measure of energy used in a resting state. at a resting state your body should not be using protein for energy. #protein is used for muscular growth, cellular maintenance, and basically the building blocks of everything you do. cool! ๐Ÿ’ช

the other nice thing about this was that i had to lay down and not move for ninety minutes. i was the test subject for two different machines, so i did two rmr’s. i cannot think of the last time i laid still for ninety minutes and practiced some serious #mindfulness and #prayer . it was really a great (and nerdy) way to reconnect with body and listen to my own internal rhythms. โœŒ๐Ÿ™ have you ever had a bmr or rmr done? tell me below! ๐Ÿ‘‡

•recipe:
grind 1/2 c @quaker oats into a flour. whisk w 1 egg, and ~1/2 c almond milk (add more if needed) until you get a consistency a bit thinner than pancake batter. pour and spread onto a nonstick pan w a ladle, cook for ~1 min/ side.
•choc drizzle (roughly estimated): 1 tbsp cacao, 2 tbsp pb2, + water to consistency.
•i stuffed these w bananas, but other options include greek yog + other types of fruit!!

Today i’m 37 weeks pregnant with my sunshine b**e ๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒพ it’s surreal to think that he could arrive in just 1-4 weeks. i have this lingering feeling that he’ll join our family early, but only time will tell. baby knows when the time is right, and i trust him and my body to know when to start our birthing journey โœจ for now i’m just riding out the days, preparing all of the last minute details like meal prepping, putting his nursery together, and buying the last few birthing supplies we need. my body knows he’s coming soon, i can feel it deep in my bones - i’m craving healthier foods again, feeling the need to move my body more often, and wanting to nest nest nest. so humbled and grateful for this transitional shift in my life where i cross the threshold and step from maiden to mother ๐ŸŒป || photo from maternity shoot by @more_than_noise

welp here i am midway through week 5, nursing a pulled hamstring and realizing the importance of rest and recovery. with the help of todays rest day, after taking it easy in my last 2 workouts, and the foam rolling i’ll be doing later, i’m pretty much good as new! .

People pleasing often leads to emotional eating. it's a strategy we often pick up as kids. so that we will be valued, or not rock the boat. it follows us into adulthood as the shield that keeps us from getting close to others, or allowing others to really see us. .
i am definitely a recovered people pleaser! most people pleasers are doing, doing, doing only to be left feeling depleted and resentful. and most don't know they are doing it, because it's so ingrained, and it has become the norm to not take care of ourselves, but to only take care of others. and you know where it leads us??? right to the ice cream, or cookie bag, or potato chip bag. are you a people pleaser? don't be afraid to admit it, that's the first step to recovery! share your experience below and get the support you need!
