Hey #fitness nerds ! this morning i got to do a very cool test… an #rmr test. what is that? well, it is resting metabolic rate test, and is a measure of how much energy your body is expending without incorporating any physical activity. it is meant to measure the amount of energy it takes to meet your #basal needs: breathing, blood pumping, and digestion. 🍴🥑 this test was also cool because i literally did nothing except #breathe . you wear a mask ( #tbh it made me feel like #darthvader ) and the machine measures the amount of #f*t and #carbohydrate that your body is using for energy. this allows it to calculate a measure of energy used in a resting state. at a resting state your body should not be using protein for energy. #protein is used for muscular growth, cellular maintenance, and basically the building blocks of everything you do. cool! 💪
the other nice thing about this was that i had to lay down and not move for ninety minutes. i was the test subject for two different machines, so i did two rmr’s. i cannot think of the last time i laid still for ninety minutes and practiced some serious #mindfulness and #prayer . it was really a great (and nerdy) way to reconnect with body and listen to my own internal rhythms. ✌🙏 have you ever had a bmr or rmr done? tell me below! 👇

anyways i made this spread for my bro the other day and he loved it so i deemed it worthy to share w u guys😘
grind 1/2 c @quaker oats into a flour. whisk w 1 egg, and ~1/2 c almond milk (add more if needed) until you get a consistency a bit thinner than pancake batter. pour and spread onto a nonstick pan w a ladle, cook for ~1 min/ side.
•choc drizzle (roughly estimated): 1 tbsp cacao, 2 tbsp pb2, + water to consistency.
•i stuffed these w bananas, but other options include greek yog + other types of fruit!!
Today is a rest day! i took advantage and slept in the morning!! i continue to learn how important these rest days are to let my body rest. stretching or some yoga may be in order this evening but just taking advantage of resting today!

when i first heard this program had 3 rest days i was like..uhh k i’ll be working out on at least 2 of those cuz like that’s way too good to be true, and i probably won’t get results anyways 🙄
welp here i am midway through week 5, nursing a pulled hamstring and realizing the importance of rest and recovery. with the help of todays rest day, after taking it easy in my last 2 workouts, and the foam rolling i’ll be doing later, i’m pretty much good as new! .
