Happy sunday! ❀️ hope you all had a good week and are ready to smash this new weekπŸ’―
started my sunday off with this beauty which was:
250ml almond milk
1 scoop salted caramel @blessedprotein
1tbsp peanut butter
1/4 avocado (don’t judge until you tryπŸ˜‹)
anddd lots of ice
i usually take sundays as a rest day to let my body have a break from training, recover, and also give myself time to plan for the week aheadπŸ•ΊπŸ½ this day off from training also keeps me motivated and ready to smash another week of training πŸ‹πŸΌ‍β™€οΈπŸ‘‘ it is so important to listen to your body and know when it needs a break, especially when training is a part of your lifestyle❀️

I never miss a training day because every day is a chance to move, whether it be running, hiking, swimming, yoga, biking or crossfit... the one thing i do though is listen to my body. if i’m tired i’ll sleep in and do a lighter session, go for a massage, eat for recovery. i can’t go hard every day but i can move every day! ☝️ and luckily i’ve had zero injuries or niggles for as long as i can remember πŸ’‍♀️ πŸ“· @crossfitwanderlust_bali

Working out on different days means different setups for each exercise. here you can see me doing the 100. a warmup exercise, so it’s done very early on. on that day i lowered my legs on picture 2 and lowered them more on picture 3.
can you notice what’s happening to my neck? i’m much more in control in picture 1 than 3. do you agree?
it’s not about constantly progressing, it’s about noticing what your body and powerhouse needs and actually can do on the day, so you’re not hurting yourself and you’re actually getting a better workout.
your teacher will notice what form you’re in and should adjust your position.

πŸ–‘ oh hey, i'm still around! getting ready for europe and working all my assignments have thrown balance out of wack at the moment. @fitasgluck lent me a nugget of advice. she said that i can't give everything my 100% so figure out what's important and to focus my energy and time on that. for me right now as much as i don't like it, my assignments are my priority. it's my last year of school and my grades need to be the best they can be. right now that means less long runs and fewer workouts. since really investing into my health, my health has been my priority. that meant sweating it out regularly and getting my heart rate up. right now, it's shifted. it's shifted to looking after my mental health and general wellbeing. i hate feeling stressed and under the pump. yoga helps alleviate that stress, as does being outdoors. so that's what i've been doing and it's working.
listen to what your physical health needs (your body) but also your mental health ✌
that's all from me for now! study breaks up, better get back to it πŸ€“

So cold and flu season upon us and whilst i generally don’t get colds very often when i do this is my thing:
fresh sliced ginger, fresh squeezed lemon juice and a good quality honey in some hot water to wash down some freshly sliced garlic ( i use slices of 1 clove). repeat this every few hours whilst taking time to rest and mostly your cold will be gone within 24hrs.

so i’ve been learning the importance of cravings and what’s more, actually listening to them!
.
for most of my life i’ve rather been at war with my desires and had this somewhat tortured relationship with food.
.
like it was wrong or bad of me to have desires and cravings.
.
🚫 the forbidden food 🚫
.
seriously heaven forbid if i actually entertained or fulfilled the desire, (unless of course it was broccoli or kale salad!)
.
i’m really not sure where this sense of self came from...maybe it was from reading too many nutrition magazines that all seemed to contradict each other...maybe it was a need to be perfect...maybe it was a ridiculous sense of right & wrong...or maybe i just liked torturing myself. 🀷‍♀️
.
regardless of the reasoning, it was causing some seriously unpleasant stress & anxiety!
.
i so desperately wanted to do what was right for my health but how? how do i actually know what’s right?
.
denying my cravings for so long meant i was out of touch with my body and what it needed!
.
is it time to delve into #intuitiveeating?
.
to reconnect with my bodies wisdom?
.
to trust in its ability to heal?
.
after all its our bodies that are the greatest doctors if we know how to communicate with them!
.
so no more ignoring cravings!
.
time to honour it’s call for what it needs...
.
seeking clarification on what craving really mean...
.
does bread actually mean something heavy? potatoes or rice maybe?
.
do lollies mean quick fuel? would fruit help?
.
could soft drink mean the need for more air, (bubbles)? mineral water anyone?
.
could licorice mean just the root?
.
it’s going to be an interesting journey but i’m looking forward to the challenge. .
let’s learn how to #bodyspeak .

Note to self... when training chest-to-wall handstands... do not go to the corner of the room!! also... i must remember that my right arm is still weak after spinal surgery!!! i used to push myself because pain was the only obstacle... muscle weakness, on the other hand, cannot be "pushed through"! lol. no handstands for me fore a while! .

I wanted to talk about something i’ve been thinking about a lot lately, body image. i see a lot of people talking about how the changes in your body give you confidence but i seem to have a problem with mine. don’t get me wrong, i am truly committed to loving whatever body i end up having when i live the life i love and also this body right now. the thing is i can’t comprehend the changes. i realize i’m smaller. i realize my progress photos show the difference. i realize all my clothes are too big for me these days but i just can’t see it. when i look into the mirror i see the same chubby girl as i saw before. not in a negative or hateful way it’s just my identity. does anybody else here have this problem? or know what to do about it? it doesn’t exactly bother me but sometimes it makes me feel unsure if i’ve actually had any progress. i don’t think that’s healthy in the long run either, i might end up overdoing it since i don’t see any changes, just the chubby girl i feel i’ve always been.

my way of handling this problem right now is to go by the way i feel. for instance i’ve been trying to start eating more. everything in me says it’s crazy and i shouldn’t, the number in the scales has gone down and if i continue like this it will keep coming down and i end up looking fit and toned... but for what? i could go on feeling exhausted, depressed and with constant lack of energy, loose a lot weight (but not gain any muscle because of insufficient energy supply) and still see myself as a chubby girl. or i could eat the way i should, have the energy to do my workouts and be with my kids, gain muscle and tone up with a slow and steady pace while working on my perspective and body image. it’s a no brainer i’m going with the latter. so far so good even though i’ve been feeling so stuffed all the time but i feel this is right for me and gets me where i want to be. .

i love sunday’s! i woke up late because i was working till 2.30am on my book so my first meal is a late lunch! .

this lamb shoulder is so delicious but because it’s naturally a fatty cut of meat i keep getting full really quickly and i had to take out half the meat from my second cup! booooooo because it tastes so good!!!
