“trust yourself.” stop looking outside for the answers.
stop looking to others to tell you how to live your life – or to hand you temporary solutions to problems that only came about because you did not trust yourself in the first place!
trusting yourself should be the most natural thing to do, but it’s not.
our world is structured, in such a way, that everything tells us, “whatever you do, don’t trust yourself.” if you cannot trust yourself, you are powerless to make good choices, which often leads to making choices based on pressure or opinions of others.
even if they are well-intentioned, no one ever knows what is best for you, and definitely not anyone sitting on the couch and tries to act like a philosopher.
if you spend a lifetime dis-trusting yourself and seeking external guidance, eventually you end up with a life that doesn’t suit you or make you happy.
if you do not trust yourself, you are also likely to repress self-expression, ultimately leading to chronic complacency, or living your life based on how someone else wants you to live it, in a limited fashion, in an average state, and resigning yourself to mediocrity.
We love it here. we’ve had our moments of *omg did we do the right thing* panic but it quickly goes away because we love this. living in a small space only means we are about to do big things. i’m still getting rid of stuff and i can hardly believe how much junk we’ve gotten rid of. i had no idea it was all hiding in our house. i’m guarding what comes in a lot more. as the mama, i feel like i’m the gate keeper now, of what comes in and what needs to go. we are having important conversations about what needs to be brought inside and what can leave in its place. we’ve discussed that stuff is just stuff, and we can’t take it with us when we die. and we’d rather get outside and play with our imaginations than sit inside with all our toys that we don’t care much for anyways. it’s been really, really freeing and really empowering. if you’re stuff is weighing you down, i encourage you. let it go. to find freedom (or many kinds) in this life, it will require you to let go of something in order to receive that freedom. our stuff is no different. what you have doesn’t make a home. your home doesn’t make a home. your people inside it make it home. whether you have a little or a lot, by choice or otherwise, that’s truly what matters. #encouragingwomeneverywhere
