Dubious find 🦎
a dubious dtella (gehyra dubia) sits motionless on the ground, hoping not to be seen. whenever i moved, this cute little gecko would perk up, run a short distance with its tail pointed up in the air, and then quickly sit motionless again. this small lizard had me puzzled a short while after stumbling across it at roper river in the northern territory. once i’d consulted my field guide i realised the species was well outside its recognised distribution, leading me to believe that i might have found another species like g. borroloola or g. pamela - but i wasn’t satisfied with any of those ids. so as unusual as it’s location might seem, i’ve decided that this must have been g. dubia. one interesting fact about dtellas is that only four of the five digits on each foot are clawed.

Meal for tomorrow!
get their daily fruit and veg and other added things. a handful of mixed nuts, 1 table spoon of pellets. they dont get nuts and pellets daily. skittles are in a cup because i put them in his foraging wheel 😊
the lorikeets get their veggie mix and for tomorrow i added a few nuts for them to try. the budgies also like to steal charlie's food as well 😂
the ringnecks get fruit and veg and sometimes a bit of seed (not much and not often)
the cockatiels get leafy greens and like to eat the chickens fruit and veg. i restock their leafy greens once they run out.
the budgies have what the quails have (see in a recent post) and also steal charlie's fruit and veg.
the quails get theirs refilled once i see its finished - they also get stuff from the ringnecks.
the chickens get strawberry tops, grass, other 'scrappy things' and leafy greens as well as their pellets.
