whenever we wanted. one of my favourite albums off all time and it still sounds fresh, tight and modern all these years later.
forget your precast ideas on john mellencamp and his soft rock / heartland tone of prior and post records. this album has incredible bite. it’s full of hard guitar tones but remains clean and bright. a pure rock album from start to finish that’s been really well mixed and produced.
i would encourage anyone interested in rock music and tone to listen to all of this underrated and largely forgotten album.
david grissom on lead guitar duty delivering his bright and grunty mid range snap. it was through this album i discovered david. aside from prs guitars i’m told most of the tone came from super lead marshall’s.
bursting with bright and hard overdriven but ultra warm tones on tracks like love and happiness. super sharp lead solos on now more than ever and well balance smoothness and overdrive on get a leg up and melting pot. almost every song has guitar tone any rock enthusiast could love.
a massively underrated album at the time and one that’s slipped through the cracks and largely over looked today. any tone enthusiast, guitarist or someone just interested in great rock music should check this out. there is also some really impressive song writing that’s even more relevant now than when it was written 20 odd years ago.
not a dull track but check out these standouts.
