If you're like most people, your lack of focus is due to thinking about the past or thinking about the future. this can happen for a bunch of different reasons, but there's something stressful that is irritating one or more of your core beliefs. this means that you're looking through the past and trying to change something or looking towards the future and trying to prepare yourself for something.
in order to break out of this habit, you need to do something to change your state, restart your mind, and then deliberately put it to work. what works for me is stretching out as far as i can for 15-20 seconds and then taking 3 slow deep breaths. while i breathing, i repeat a phrase in my mind as loud as i can. this allows me to get super focused on my breathing and this one phrase.
it changes based on what i'm doing, but it's a mantra like "day by day in everyway i'm getting better and better" or "i am filling myself with gratitude, confidence, and love." after taking these 3 breaths, think about your goal and what you can do at that very moment to achieve it. think until you find your answer and then get to work.
