one thing that has been challenging for me is being able to break out of the cycle of only seeing the negative things i'm dealing with, and forgetting to be grateful for all the positive things that are surrounding me as well. something that has been helping me a lot is becoming more mindful of my thought patterns, both positive and negative. when i realize i am thinking negatively - whether it's about myself or a specific situation i'm in - i try to realize that it's just a thought i'm having, and not necessarily the truth. i take some time to separate the thought from myself. it's a process that is new to me, but has been worthwhile.
i've also become more mindful of the positive moments i have throughout the day. when i take the time to realize that not everything around me is or has to be bad all the time - either by meditating, or writing things down, my days are filled with more positivity and fewer nagging thoughts about why i don't deserve happiness.
the @mindfreshco course that i'm taking right now has been a huge catalyst in my mindfulness and meditation practice. through this training, i've started to realize that i can begin to have more control over my state of mind. i'm becoming more familiar with my thoughts and patterns, and i have had more opportunities to notice how my physical body is translating to how i'm feeling emotionally. it has helped me see that the present moment is filled with positive things, but that sometimes we need to be able to really stay in the moment to see, observe and cherish them. #mindfreshmoment

growing up i refused to eat anything that resembled a vegetable, especially if it were green (brown was my food color of choice: chicken nuggets, fries, bread, etc.). thinking about baby plotnik’s arrival in the next few months has me thinking of all the fun ways to incorporate veggies into her life when she starts eating solids. i probably won’t start with a chilled vegan watercress and cucumber soup but this experiment was for me because i still need more greens in my life. 🤤🥒🍵 #eatmoreplants
chilled watercress and cucumber soup-
* 4 big handfuls of @peteslivinggreens watercress, washed
* 2 medium cucumbers, peeled and cut into small chunks
* 1 large avocado
* 1 small clove garlic
* 1 tablespoon lemon juice
* 2 tablespoons fresh mint
* 1 tablespoons fresh dill
* dash of sea salt
* extra v****n olive oil, extra watercress, and cucumber for garnish
* combine all ingredients in a high speed blender and puree until smooth. you’ll need to scrape the sides of blender with a silicone bowl scraper every 30 seconds or so. * chill for at least one hour or overnight. * once chilled, serve soup topped with a drizzle of extra v****n olive oil, watercress, cucumber slice, and enjoy! checkout more of my collaboration with @peteslivinggreens and @oseamalibu at https://bit.ly/2jy5lkg.🧖🏻‍♀️🌿🥄 #mindfulliving

The only person you can depend on to fix things for you is yourself 💥 whether it be a bad situation, or your hair complaining about it is not going to get you anywhere (except for having everyone else annoyed with you). take action, speak up for what’s right, don’t depend on others, lead by example and others will follow. 💙💯🦋💚💃🏼🧘🏼♀️

i’ve taken a bath every night ever since i was a little girl. hot water feels healing to me, letting my sore muscles soak and my tired mind rest. next time you’re in the bath or shower, picture your unwanted thoughts or stale energy melting off your skin, into the water and down the drain. it’s such a simple act of caring for yourself, sitting silently in water, but something about it makes me think more clearly and peacefully. bonus points if you light a few candles, pour a few drops of lavender and put on your favorite playlist. on that note, off to take a bath 💫
