These little fellas love my garden! and to be honest i really don’t mind (apart from when i accidentally step on one in the night) and i’m happy to share - this chive plant in particular is their favourite - as i see it, this world is not ours for the taking. i have no right to tell this slug that he can’t eat from my garden (or this garden that i am currently a steward of should i say) so i don’t remove them and i would never try to harm them. their needs are small and this garden has plenty. #minibeast#inmygarden#plantlady#homegrown#growfoodnotlawns#chive#slug#mumlife#mamabear#earthsteward
Capturing a swallowtail butterfly in focus, in-flight is not the easiest of tasks... we're fortunate to have at least 2 of these majestic visitors to our beautiful island at the moment and i was lucky enough to have the time to spend a few hours at victoria tower and watch them tear around the skies, chasing and being chased by other butterflies.
i got a few nice static shots but i was really after something a bit more storytelling and dynamic... a swallowtail in flight!
after numerous failed attempts of me and my camera trying & failing to autofocus on an incredibly nimble and unpredictable flier, i sat and watched their general behaviour for a while.
noticing that they kept moving back and forth along a path i decided to set my composition with a nice blue sky & sea, framed by some bushes on either side.
i then manual focused on an area a few feet in front of the bushes and waited & waited for them to return and pop into frame - firing away a few shots at a time as they zipped by.
luckily i managed to capture this image of a chase in action where the plan just about came together!
