A very rare information poster utilizing the ‘robotic man’ image designed for the underground by the austrian modernist julius klinger, 1930. the border and central figure would have been printed as a ‘stock’ poster with the text added later. advertises bus service from highgate to east finchley. not in the london transport museum collection.

giovanni ugolini founded today's oldest mosaic gallery in #florence in 1868 creating work referred to as commesso di pietre dure(semi-precious stone inlay). beginning in the 1950's, mauro bini developed many original designs to be be executed by local #florentine workshops including #ugolini and #montici studios. with the use of five different stones, he has created an #undersea image of an illuminated #octopus, surprisingly with only six arms. engraved signature lower right "m bini" with label on verso "g. #ugolini, #firenze" in original gilt frame. #modernist#midcentury#mosaico#lungaro#hexapus
