looking back on photos from the lovely weekend i have just had in townsville with fabulous friends. i am so grateful for essential oils - the day before i was due to fly to townsville for my best friends long awaited wedding day (and hubby and my little getaway) i started to get a sore throat (i thought it was from all the yelling/cheering at the kids sports days) well it was the beginning of a cough/cold. i tackled it straight away, using to begin with tea tree, lemon, on guard, eucalyptus, frankincense and easy air. i then had a headache, i turned to peppermint to help ease this. then the thought of flying and didn’t want to feel any worse - so i ensured i had my on guard on for immune support and digestzen to stop the after flying bloat. i started to lose my voice (my friends thought i was now a man) 🤣🤔
the day of the wedding i rested, had a couple of spoons of manuka honey, drank kombucha, got some vitamin d and some fresh juice as well as the use of the essential oils. i am so grateful that i was able to support myself through feeling poorly with mostly natural alternatives. the essential oils are my go to firstly and i believe they honestly helped me this weekend as they do time and time again. i did take some medicine one night as my head was throbbing and this is why i am also extremely grateful for modern medicine.
i was not letting anything get in the way of me having a great time and i had a bloody awesome time!! now home for more rest, a break from overindulgence (🍸🍹🍷) and lots of cuddles with the kids 😊💕 #essentialoils #🙏 #thankful#modernmedicine #🙏#supportmyhealth#grateful#alternatives#wellness#gratefulfornaturesgifts#lookafteryourself#ford#timeout#vitamind#doterra#mumlife#flubomb#immuneboost#convertible#wedding#fun#frankincense#health
"a man only learns in two ways, one by reading, and the other by association with smarter people." - will rogers
as cliche as it sounds, it couldn't be more true. the world truly is your oyster, and far too often many of us don't even begin to tap into the seemingly limitless potential that we all have to offer. whether that be because of issues like self-doubt and insecurities, complacency, or fear of the unknown, it happens far too often. in my own personal life, i try my best to incorporate three rules: 1) read every day, 2) incorporate positive mental imagery, and 3) surround yourself with your fav 5.
educating yourself and constantly maintaining a sense of intellectual curiosity can be one of the most uplifting and empowering feelings in life, and each one of us has the capacity to evolve beyond our current state more than we can even comprehend. whenever i find myself questioning something in one of my courses or in the research lab, i always look to teach myself through books, online journals such as ncbi, or online videos. we all learn differently, so it's not so important how you learn but that you always try to do your best! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
when it comes to tapping into your academic potential, i recommend practicing positive mental imagery. that is, before you go to bed each night, really try to visualize with your minds third eye all the success you can achieve starting in the morning and wake up with that winning attitude. as i can personally attest, it can be a complete game changer. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
lastly, be smart about those who you allow to be close to you. no person is an island, and our malleability as social beings is greatly influenced by others, especially those close to us. make sure as you go on through life that you're choosing to surround yourself with people who both value you and empower you to be the best people of yourself

🔹🔹🔹after having the opportunity to work in a research field these last few months focused largely on preventive health, i can't stress enough how diet and exercise play a critical role in our long-term health. although nutrition can be complicated and our biochemistries differ from individual to individual, as a general rule it's so important to eat a balanced diet. too often we cheat ourselves for a variety of reasons, whether they be work related, stress related, etc. i always tell people who ask, focus on a diet rich in vitamins and minerals through consumption of fruits and vegetables (at least five servings a day), try to substitute lean meats such as fish that are high in essential fatty acids in place of red meat (promote heart health and anti-inflammatory effects in the body, as well as other beneficial effects), and lastly limit carbohydrate intake (too many carbs can lead to short and long-term issues such as weight gain, excess fat, fatigue due to a high glycemic index, etc)
