What if i told you i achieved my dream body by eating whatever the hell i wanted and not counting a single calorie? πŸ™Š you’d prob think i’m a psychopath but guess what, i did. i’m sure you believe that you have to follow this strict diet to achieve the body you want, blah blah blah...but lemme ask you-what happens after you follow your diet to a t for 5 days??? do you keep going or completely cave and eat all the food in sight and feel like absolute s**t for 2 days then starve yourself and go through the cycle all again?!? πŸ”„πŸ•i can say that 90% of you probably do just that because that’s what i did for a good 7 years before i finally broke the cycle. how did i break it? by eating what i want. if a slice of pizza isn’t “allowed” on a monday afternoon, how is 7 slices “allowed” on saturday when you’ve finally said f**k it? wouldn’t the one slice on a monday be healthier? 🀨the answer is yes. if you think i’m crazy then so be it, but if you know what cycle i’m talking about and can’t get out of it—i’m here to help. because what’s on the other side is a m a z i n g. πŸ₯—+πŸ”=πŸ˜€

#fbf to my birthday vacation spa day last week at @sojospaclub ❀️running from a 105 degree salt pool to an ice-cold waterfall! oh yeah. that’s fun. bahahahaha! he dared me and i did it!!
he gave me a tip though... he takes cold showers every morning, and he said the trick is to go under the water head first! so your brain gets surprised and your body just follows suite. if you go in legs/arms/feet first, then your mind will scream in protest. if you go in mind first, then it doesn’t have time to react! life lesson maybe! #jumpin β€οΈπŸ“·: @jjcaruncho

Day 4 of the #selfcareyogis is pranayama - or breath work. i did a few different exercises to really feel the entire breadth of my lungs. i love malasana because it allows you to feel your breath even into your bottom. i also love having hands on your belly so you can feel just how full it gets. - and a seated cat/cow to really feel my lungs expand and contract. // i often say that before yoga i could breathe to sing or work out- but i had no idea how calming breathing could be. - i’m thankful today’s challenge included this. - now to message some love to my sweet friends!!! -

"playing small" is easy. saying you want something is easy. avoiding challenge is easy. setting goals is easy. you know what's not easy? coming face to face with challenges that match the size of your goals. β €

societal norm is to want certain results (rebuild lost muscle, reset metabolism, lose fat, find a new job, have a better marriage, etc), without ever truly challenging your views of what it will take.β €

to decide upfront what "hard" should look like, & then run at the first sign of anything that pushes you beyond that barrier. β €

have you ever considered the fact that you're trying to achieve something that you've never achieved before? and that you subsequently have no idea what that journey is *supposed* to look like? β €

if you knew exactly what it would take, & exactly how it should look, feel, etc...wouldn't you already have it? β €

how could you possibly know when something "shouldn't be this hard?" or "shouldn't take this long..." β €

have you considered that there might be a challenge or level of hard that you've never imagined attached to a goal or destination that you've never accomplished? that you're measuring places you've never gone, based on places you've always gone? basing habits, behaviors, and patience levels you'll need to succeed, based on habits, behaviors, and (im)patience levels you have? β €

it doesn't matter what goals you have, or will set for yourself. if you don't ever reach that fork in the road where you ask yourself "do i really want this?" - and seriously consider answering "🀬no!" - you're probably playing small. β €

(sn: it's totally ok to say "no" to the do i really want this question, so long as you *know, acknowledge, & accept* that you've chosen "no" - rather than living in limbo of telling yourself yourself "this isn't working" while you're technically refusing to step up to the challenge of *making* it work)β €

The human body can go for months without food, and days without water, however, we can only survive minutes without oxygen. there is a reason for this and of course there are benefits to deep conscious breathing. as you guessed, detoxing is one of them.

breathing is actually a pretty fascinating subject. did you know, it’s the only function we can perform consciously and unconsciously?
.
taking deep breathes provides the body with oxygen which helps the body absorb vitamins, nutrients, and minerals more efficiently. it also promotes the creations of white blood cells enhancing the working of our immune system and detox pathways. .
as you inhale your lungs fill with oxygen that gets transported in your blood throughout your organs. conversely every time we exhale we eliminate part of the body’s waste in the form of carbon dioxide.

shallow breathing - which most of us do unconsciously is linked to fatigue and decreased tissue function. additionally, the brain cannot function to it’s fullest potential if it’s not receiving enough oxygen - which could be why we’re forced to yawn, especially when you’re tired.

- relief of tension
- increase in energy
- lower blood pressure
- calm your heart rate
- aid in digestion
- direct connection to your emotional state and mood

try practicing the 4-7-8 method at 3 reps twice daily for maximum benefit. here's how to get started:

place the tip of your tongue against the ridge behind your upper teeth and exhale completely through your mouth.

close your mouth and inhale deeply through your nose for a count of 4 - hold for 7 counts - exhale for a count of 8
repeat three times
.
it’s really that simple. a few deep-deep breathes every couple of hours will enhance your detox. take it for a test run and see how it feels! let me know below!
