when i suggest to a client how much they should be eating, it’s quite common for them to be surprised⁣⁣⁣⁣

there’s a huge misinterpretation that in order to lose weight, you must consume a pathetic amount of calories⁣⁣
⁣⁣
so please bear in mind the possibility that your maintenance calories is likely to be much higher than you think⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣

however clients can be adamant that the calorie target set for them will be far too high, and that they think they would, and i quote, ‘struggle’ to eat that much⁣⁣⁣⁣

well, heres the thing. if you are reporting that you are eating a feeble amount calories and you have not lost any weight, i can be certain of one thing⁣⁣⁣⁣

and that is that you are, without question, eating far more than you think⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣⁣⁣
the notion of ‘starvation mode’ and ‘not eating enough to lose weight’ are pretty much non-concepts⁣

just because you’ve been on a ‘diet’ does not mean your bmr will slow down to the point you have to eat like a pigeon to maintain weight⁣

although extreme calorie restrictive diets are a pretty horrific idea, one thing that is guaranteed is that you will, without any doubt, lose weight⁣⁣

albeit through unnecessarily harsh means, and posing the risk of some nasty adaptations⁣⁣ occurring if sustained⁣

this list is far from extensive, alcohol, extra handfuls of food, coffees, condiments, your habitual orange juice with breakfast, the list goes on⁣⁣⁣⁣

you need to consider how many hidden unsatiating calories are sneaking into your diet⁣

when you acknowledge this, and find a way to reduce and replace them⁣

you might find you can actually consume far more actual food than you thought ⁣

and your current diet might consist of far more calories than you think

Something i whipped up a couple nights ago was a throw together spag bol 🍝
had some bits to use up in the fridge so this is chestnut mushrooms, onions, aubergines, swede, carrots, 5% lean steak mince, passata and a couple of beefy stock cubes. yum yum yum 😍

Minestrone soup for lunch with a slice of wholemeal bread.. 322 calories! it’s probably not the most sw friendly lunch but i was too busy rushing around to worry about what i was having for lunch, or even breakfast.. hoping & praying this will fill a void until dinner time because i am wanting to eat everything in sight!😳😩😂
