Little guy in a big forest... watching the bravery of a young great horned owl teaching itself to fly is enough to inspire even the most cynical among us. clambering up the side of an enormous tree, with nothing more than a beak and 2 feet, then trusting 2 brand new, still developing wings enough to launch out into the air requires a level of bravery that i cannot begin to comprehend. this owlet and its siblings were climbing up the side of the tree and then gliding down to a lower spot on another one, repeating the process again and again. it was equal parts hysterically funny and beautifully uplifting. a fond memory retrieved from the archives on a sunday morning. #greathornedowl

See-bzzzzzz! blue-winged warbler singing in the apple blossoms. too busy to clean the inchworm remnants from his beak. #bluewingedwarbler
Cute little chickadee ❤️ the definition of cute. full of energy. seeing a lot of these right now, they are really cleaning out my peanut feeder at the moment they seem to especially like mesh type feeders that they can cling onto. the tiny broken stick next to the chickadee bothered me and i wasn’t sure if i should post the photo just because of that. i’m a crazy perfectionist. ha. nikon d7500 nikon 300mm f4 vr

"ring on the finger", finger rock trail, tucson, az., 03/24/10. my hats off to rick williams for posting an image of this saguaro skeleton in january. while hiking in pontatoc canyon, he told me there were several water crossings and wildflowers along finger rock trail worth seeing (which was the original reason for my hike), but i was trilled to also find this little gem. #arizonaphotographer#tucsonphotographer#nikonusa#seearizona#landscapelovers

It has been such a great week in yellowstone park the coyotes are jumping for joy! caught this coyote mousing yesterday in the interior of the park. he probably stood in one spot for 5 minutes focusing on prey under the snow until pouncing. the hunt was successful and looked like a vole was on the dinner menu.
