My first new pair of work/patrol boots in over 5 years!!! you have no idea how excited i am to get these because for me, these are my symbol of freedom. allow me to explain.... for the past 5 years i have been stuck on the broken system of workers comp. i wasn’t allowed to work, i wasn’t allowed to make an income, and i essentially wasn’t allowed to have much freedom. i couldn’t even launch forged by fire apparel because of the reasons mentioned above. i was simply stuck. if you are asking yourself why i didn’t just get off of workers comp, it’s not that easy. for 5 years i wanted to be free but the system is designed in a way to not get you back to work as much as it is to keep you on it. my case workers would constantly lose my paperwork, bar me from seeing certain doctors, and seemingly try to s***w with me as much as they could. but as with everything in life, my persistence paid off. it cost me a lot of stress, a lot of money, and a lot of time in court fighting the system but i finally got my freedom. last week i got my letter from workers comp saying that all my debts are paid and there were officially wiping me off my books. i can now officially go back into the workforce, launch forged by fire and do whatever i d**n well please. freedom has never felt so good 👊🏼🇺🇸
to anyone of you out there who is seemingly stuck in life, never give up. fight for what you believe in and fight for yourself! it will always pay off.
be sure to follow @forged_by_fire_apparel
I are you most afraid of? what’s holding you back?
“if your destination, or the steps you are going to take in the future, take up so much of your attention that they become more important to you than the step you are taking now, then you completely miss the journeys purpose.”
from the book the power of now, by eckhart tolle
one of my biggest fears is quitting, giving up, walking away, not hitting my full potential.
not because of something i chose to stop that is no longer serving me but because of the voice in my head that can be filled with self doubt, swayed or complicated to overcome. it’s how everyone’s is!
i’m afraid that i would allow this to be a standard in my life. that i would one day decide that it was okay to do that.
how do i overcome this fear? by focusing on what i need to do today.
have you ever stepped back and realized we are exactly where we need to be? learning a lesson, succeeding in our business, working towards a goal?
💗stop chasing perfectionism (aka my hair 🙈)
tell me something positive 😊

how do we overcome negative thoughts and feelings? as someone who has struggled with depression and anxiety for almost my whole life, i have long given up hope in overcoming them. but the lord is good, he has won the battle for us, and we can be set free from negativity and anxiety.
i’m not giving any spoilers, head over to my blog to find out! (link below)
These are dire times, there's a of negatively that's happening around the world.
although that's the truth we need to remember that after the negative, there's always the positive.
during these times, don't forget your humanity, the driving force behind your life ~ don't forget to take care of yourself, family, friends and the people around you (if you're capable).
do whatever you need to do to take the mental stress off of you, even if it means getting up one day to put on your make up, wear some of your fancy clothes, play dress up and have a photoshoot at home, as long as you are safe and you aren't being an irresponsible citizen.
just remember, there's always positivity disguised as negativity. you just need to change your perspective to recognize it.
keep your heads held up high.
we'll all be fine and this shall pass too. #alzadecrafts #alzade#gearup#motivationaltuesday#overcome#lagos#africa#humanity#positivity#crafts#handmade#bellanaija #lagosnigeria#perspective

💞we are all equal and have the rights to love and be loved, regardless of who we are.💞
you are who you are. you don’t have to be afraid of how others view you. you are the one ruling your own life. only when you learn to accept and love yourself, will you be free and easy. 💛💛💛
Point out the good things about yourself and get out of the habit of being over critical of yourself. there are things in us all that we would love to improve about ourselves, but it doesn’t mean that we should beat ourselves up because of it. learn to acknowledge the great things about more. remind yourself of who you are.
I dare you to read this then tell me how you feel:
be honest with yourself... you know you hold yourself back. you listen to that voice in your head. the one that says, "i'm not good enough." that one that reminds you of the failures, the missteps, and the mistakes.
why do you listen? why must you hold onto every mistake for the rest of your life? do you truly believe your mistakes can't be overcome? what is holding you back from forgiveness?
the answers to those questions make a difference. if it chokes you up to answer them, to verbalize that response, your body is telling you those answers are not correct. if it doesn't, then you have broken through into a state of mind that has compartmentalized your self worth.
you can't heal if you can't be honest. sometimes, you can't see the lie you tell yourself. you need to express what your feeling for others to recognize it for us. your story needs to be expressed so that you can find the truth.
more often than not, that truth is this: you are holding yourself back from your best self.

Action action action today, right now, not tomorrow...if you want change in all areas of your life it is consistent action that will bring it. no matter how you feel push through with the discipline and the results you've dreamed of will come whether that be a health or personal goal.
Let praise give you power to overcome and let worship become your weapon in the battlefield of your mind! declare & believe that you are who god says you are and let go of the lies trying to k**l your destiny! 🙌🏾🙇🏾♂️🖤

Self-reflection is really healthy. as i’ve spoken about before, it’s important to look back and understand the roots of your behaviour remember, the way you react to things is always because of your past experiences/the conditioning which arose as a result. towards both self-acceptance/ improvement, analysis of this is needed. we are also taught to be self-reflective as kids, as our parents taught us to take responsibility for our actions.
but, if, like me, you’re a deep thinker, this can become complicated - there’s a point where it can become too much. you can fall into the self-analysis trap in which you expect yourself to be able to both understand and control everything that happens to you. but you can’t ever do this. because to truly understand every one of your own motives, you would need to truly understand everything others do to you, and this will simply never be doable. so when you inevitably fail yourself of this expectation, self-degradation, annoyance and a negative self-image become all too possible.
sometimes, things will happen in the external world for reasons that you will never understand, and so sometimes, rather than analysing every feeling that arises in reaction to it, the best thing you can do is to accept what is. in such situations, it would be helpful to, rather than focus on that external event that upset you, focus on learning mechanisms that keep you calm/can help you return to a positive, calm state (e.g. positive affirmations, or switching off your overactive, super analytical brain and simply listening to music or smashing a weights session).
because the thing is, nobody ever analyses other people as much as they analyse themselves, so do you really always need to go so far?
this is not to take away from the importance of introversion towards understanding yourself. this is so helpful, and one of the biggest things that has helped me. what i am saying though, is that there is a line between healthy and driving yourself mad. too much of anything really is bad! if you are like the past me, who prided myself in self-control and never showing struggle, letting go of constant self analysis...
