Another glimpse at the new menu, this is chef agreeing to cook marrow because our grandad used to grow them and make us eat them when we were growing up - and our mum could not cook! but we still love marrow, and this one comes roasted in herbs and stuffed with pickled courgettes on black wild rice with pan fried ling... in your face mum. only joking. but thanks, chef. xxx
I have never ever considered #basa to be a real #fish and neither have i ever ventured into buying some for a meal. the only time we do end up having this fish is when my husband orders his favourite fish fingers to enjoy with his beer.
however, since i did find some gorgeous #filet online, a buy was in order. and out they came today for this beautiful #salad i really wanted to have.
up until the last moment, the dish i had in mind was #panfried basa in #lemon#butter #sauce. while my sauce and fish were bubbling away, i put together this colourful salad to go with it — rainy nights don’t generally go too well with salads, ergo the decision. however, laziness got the better of me, and here i am with one of my most favourite #palate teases - the combinations of hot and cold, crunchy/crispy and soft together.
i’ve never felt more happy with something as nondescript as basa. thank you dear fish, you’ve made me a very happy mamma. :)
ps, will you look at that perfectly crispy skin? mmmm.
Pan fried chilli fish - basa fish marinated and then covered in corn flour which is then deep fried in a non stick wok until it turns golden brown.
this is, hands down, the best starter i had from my visit at china whites. we had a lot of dishes to try from that day but nothing came close to dethroning this from it's excellence.
the fish was cooked to perfection, making the pieces tender, juicy and utterly delicious. the flavours were precise as well, keeping a perfect balance between sweet, tangy and spicy. the end result, was a highly intriguing preparation that succeeded in making it's mark prominent even after such a long time, i totally need to have this again !
Chicken meatballs tossed in schezwan sauce. i had made schezwan sauce 2 weeks back and still not used it in any of my recipe. so came up with this recipe for lunch sided by chicken fried rice for lunch.
