In costa rica, cashews grow on big beautiful trees. the nuts grow in hard shells at the end of big red, green, and yellow fruit. the fruit has a tangy sour taste i cannot accurately describe. to get to the nut you have to put them over fire. the smoke is poisonous. amazing. a cashew tree shades my house. when i returned from ecuador in april it was full of fruit. this drawing was inspired by watching the howler monkeys feasting on those unusual fruits.
