Turmeric. the granddaddy of whole food medicine.... it’s benefits are too many to describe in an instagram post🤣 but bullet points are amazingly anti-inflammatory, super healing for joint pain and integral to staving off heart disease and cancer. that bright color let’s us know that it’s phytonutrient count is through the roof!!! sure, you can take it in pill form but i know that our bodies want real nutrition from real whole foods!! it’s ability to be absorbed by the body is increased greatly by pairing it with ginger or white/black pepper. here’s a delicious warming recipe to enjoy for the cold season to boost your immunity... making a turmeric hot chocolate takes the bite off the turmeric and makes it a little tastier. i make this up at night, add a little extra sweetener and have this instead of dessert... let’s start loving the foods that love us back❤️💕♥️!!!! ingredients
3 cups milk of choice, (unsweetened coconut milk works great)

i have lots of favorite soups to boost immunity during that slide into fall when the night air gets chillier and comfort food is sought.
this one began with @oceanshalo pho broth, loaded with organic nutrients, high in vit d and iodine from kelp.
i added lots of veggies:
carrots, celery, shallots, bean sprouts, mung bean noodles, snap peas, zucchini, broccoli and high protein lotus root and a few cubes of firm tofu. of course i always add my healing staples: fresh garlic, ginger & turmeric to the broth✨

1/2 cup hoisin sauce
1/4 cup soy sauce (can use reduced sodium) or tamari
3 tablespoons rice vinegar
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/2 cup walnuts
1 cup or 1/4 head of fresh cauliflower
1 tablespoon coconut aminos
1 1/2 teaspoon cumin
1 1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 1/2 garlic powder
1 teaspoon j**k seasoning
2 teaspoons canola oil, or grapeseed oil or sunflower oil
8 ounces extra-firm tofu
8 ounces baby bella cremini mushrooms — finely chopped
1 can (8 oz) water chestnuts, drained and finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 teaspoons freshly grated ginger
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
4 green onions — chopped
large bunch or 8-10 butter lettuce leaves or romaine lettuce leaves
1. in a small bowl, wisk together the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil and set aside.
2. to a food processor place in the walnuts, cauliflower, coconut aminos, cumin, paprika, garlic powder and j**k seasoning. pulse until course and crumbly. don't pulse for too long, or the mixture will become creamy.
3. line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and spread the walnut mixture on top. bake in a 375 f degree oven for about 12 minutes. when done, remove sheet from oven and set aside.
4. press the tofu between paper towels to squeeze out as much liquid as possible. repeat with fresh paper towel. heat the 2 teaspoons oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. once the oil is hot, crumble in the tofu, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks. continue cooking for 5-7 minutes, then add the diced mushrooms. continue cooking until any remaining liquid cooks off and the tofu starts to turn golden, about 3-4 minutes more. add the walnut mixture to the skillet and cook another 1 minute. stir in the water chestnuts, garlic, ginger, red pepper flakes, and half of the green onions and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds more.
5. pour the sauce over the top of the veggie mixture and stir to coat. cook just until you see bubbling and the sauce is warmed through about 1 minute.
6. spoon the tofu mixture into individual lettuce leaves. top with remaining green onions, sliced carrots, and additional red pepper flakes if desired

if you're holding onto your coffee routine, try getting in your greens first so that there is alkalinity to balance the acidity of your morning routine.
𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐆𝐨𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐒𝐦𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐰𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐞:
½ medium cucumber
1 celery stalk
¼ apple (for sweetness but you can also use dates)
½ frozen & unsweetened acai packet
½ cup frozen broccoli
½ cup frozen spinach or kale
1 t. nut or seed butter (our favorite is almond but we sometimes put chia seeds or pepitas too)
2 scoops @puriumhp#powershake (this is the key to your energy boost - loaded with amazing sea vegetables!!)
1 scoop @puriumhp#supermeal or #mvpsport protein powder
the key to a thick smoothie bowl is the liquid quantity. start with a ½ c. of your favotite plant-based milk or ½ c. water. blend all ingredients in the blender. some blenders may need a bit more liquid but only add about a tablespoon at a time so it doesn’t get too runny.
top with your favorite berries, date granola, seeds, or whatever you like! enjoy :)
Do you meditate? meditation along with a plant based diet are two key factors to living a happier healthier lifestyle.
this is because science has proven that meditation makes you happier and people who meditate generally lead happier lives than those who don’t. when you meditate the pre-frontal cortex of your brain, which is the part associated with happiness, is extra active.
daily practice and activation of this part of the brain has proved that meditation can actually have physiological effects on your brain. it has been found that the part of the brain that regulates stress and anxiety shrinks when meditation is practiced consistently. when you meditate and start to focus on moment by moment experiences, you are training your mind to remain calm, even in stressful situations. you will also start to experience significantly less anxiety in your life.
certain benefits can start making themselves felt very quickly and a sense of calmness and peace of mind are common experiences. if you are worried that meditation is having the opposite effect because when you practice it your mind seem busier than ever, my advice would be to stick with it, and keep your sessions short. meditation isn’t about wiping the slate of your mind clean, it’s about being aware of what appears there. if you do start to notice your mind going crazy then you are already a step ahead because you’re noticing how busy the mind can be and that in itself is calming.
apart from enhancing your happiness and improving your overall well-being, meditation also helps your memory stay sharp and your concentration remain steady. when you practice meditation, your actually training your brain to remain aware of the present moment in a non judgmental manner. consequently, distractions are less and less likely to sweep you away.
if you want to start meditation then you can do so via youtube or the many apps that are out there. start slow, 5 minutes in the morning and evening will be enough. once you have these 5 minutes working for you start to increase your time. if you can get to 30 mins to one hour morning and night you will start to see huge benefits in your life.

The best way to a man’s heart is through his stomach!!! well my “little, not so little man” is coming home from school tonight!!! yippeeeeee!!!! we’ve all missed him so much, haven’t squished his face in 41 days!!! feels like forever!
freezer & fridge are pretty full and i’ll be on one last trip to the grocery store tonight for a few odds and ends. not exactly sure how he’s been eating while at school so best to get as much good food in him as i can. if i had my way..., i’d be doing a full on detox with him, including several enemas but i have a feeling that won’t happen... 🤣🤣🤣
