Keeping it real for you girls! in most of my photos i post i have a lean ‘tight looking’ tummy... but just like most mums or girls that have lost a lot of weight, my skin isn’t as tight as it used to be. my belly has been stretched out numerous times and my body is not perfect. please remember instagram/facebook is a highlight reel... don’t get me wrong i love professional photos and being tanned and dolled up to get a beautiful picture but know that underneath all of that we all have imperfections....

Transformation tuesday

both are beautiful bellies. i’m postpartum and i’m proud! i’m not going to hide this summer due to the pressures of society.
.
my friend told me there is no way she would let anyone see her postpartum belly. it really doesn’t bother me anymore. i’m not going to lie, my first postpartum journey it did but not anymore. i’m finally past the point of caring what others think. i won’t be 6 months postpartum forever and right now i’m embracing this magical journey.
.
i know i’ve raved on before about the importance of honouring your own postpartum journey. i’ve expressed my concern about those pushing themselves past the point of no return. i have respect for those that are extremely disciplined but bite my tounge to those who show impatience.
.
i don’t bounce back. i never have and i never will. i hold and store weight easily and have to work extremely hard for a “lean” body. but right now i don’t care, it’s not my priority and its not the time to work hard. it’s a process that takes time. it’s a time to honour, respect and nurture. i am currently moving and nourishing my body for mental health and physical health and self empowerment not for aesthetic purposes.

i’ve shared this journey once before. it took me years but i came back stronger than ever. i hope to do the same this time around.
.
i share this because i’m human and my clients need to see that it’s a process and a journey for majority of us. i was explaining to my client yesterday that i too still can’t fit my wedding rings back onto my fingers. it doesn’t make me any less of a woman or a mother.
.
thanks for all your support so far. cheers to all the women whether you are bouncing back or not because you’re still on your own journey. embrace that ❤️

Ab series and muscle seperation post pregnancy👌🔥
hi everyone here’s a reminder about the abs series that will help you tone and strengthen your abs to support your spine, improve posture and help you fit better into your jeans 😃pilates also helps with muscle seperation after pregnancy otherwise known as diastasis recti as we work with connecting and strengthen your transverse abdominals and pelvic floor as well as drawing your abs in (hollow them out like i say in class) and focusing on not allowing abs to pop outward and also watching your ribs don’t pop outward. i give a lot of corrections in class to ensure we strengthen your abs the correct way and reduce chances of injury by constantly activating your transverse abdominals and “zipping up” from your lower abs which weaken after pregnancy too. if you have muscle seperation make sure you see a qualified instructor before trying to challenge yourself into exercising and risking injury. pilates is so good for your mind and body connection but also needs to be done correctly to ensure correct core and glute connection and new muscle memory is formed ❤️ wishing you the best sunday and if you’d like to come try a class just let me know i can help 💝

a quick series to try if you like some tips ⬇️ on what to look out for below ⬇️
✔️if your neck hurts place head down if neck doesn’t hurt lift head and shoulders right up right till shoulder blades are off mat
✔️if back hurts keep knees bent and don’t lower legs as low keep movements smaller and higher
✔️keep full spine imprinted into your mat- that means don’t let any part of your back lift off mat and don’t allow your back to arch as it will then take strain so if your back starts arching or lifting you’ve gone too low with your legs

as much as i hate slowing down it’s what my body is telling me i need to do at the moment.
i 100% believe by staying active right up until birth will see you have a faster recovery, less weight gain, less fatigue, less fluid retention, less aches and pains and not to mention those endorphins!
staying active is not only recommended but encouraged by doctors and obstetricians these days providing you are not a high risk pregnancy.
the intensity of your workouts are dependent on you starting fitness levels however if your currently pregnant and haven’t been working out it’s not too late to start.

labour and birth are intense experiences, and having some anxiety as you prepare to birth your baby is completely natural. acknowledging fears and doubts helps dissipate the power they have over you.

fear sets into motion the physiology of stress, resulting in the release of the powerful chemicals of the fight or flight response. neither of these impulses will serve you well during labour. this is because stress hormones constrict the arteries to the u****s and reduce the effectiveness of your contractions. the physiology of fear has also been shown to lower your threshold for pain.

learning to bring yourself from a state of apprehension to one of inner centredness is a valuable skill that will be of tremendous benefit to you during your birthing experience and throughout your life.

take a few moments to feel your body and see if you can identify any uncomfortable sensations and notice where you are holding apprehension and worry. ask yourself if you can let these feelings go?
it's important to realise that you always have a choice, to either hold on or let go.
often times all you need is a little nudge in the right direction. kinesiology is such a great tool to support you through this process.

This mexican salad is sooo delicious 🥗 and perfect for a spring cleanse 👌

i love that you can whip it up in a flash and keep it in the fridge for a few days and it tastes better the longer it sits there! ❤️
.
ingredients:
1 can black beans (or kidney beans). 1 ear of fresh cooked corn, kernels cut off the cob.
handful cherry tomatoes, chopped.
1 red capsicum (bell pepper), diced.
1/2 cup chopped fresh coriander (cilantro). zest and juice of one fresh lime.
1 avocado, chopped or mashed.
1 spring onion (or 1/2 a red onion) , finely chopped.
1 clove of garlic.
1 tspn pink salt.
pinch of cayenne pepper.
2 tbspn olive oil.
large handful of salad greens, to serve.

method:
combine all ingredients except for avocado and salad leaves in a large bowl and mix well. cover and chill for several hours or overnight.
right before serving, add the avocado and leafy greens and mix gently 👌😋 🥑🍅🌽🍈

In close relationships there may always be ruptures which arise in the field of lovers and friends. when we take the risk of allowing another to matter and open to them, a call is sent out to the lost ones of the inner family, an invitation to return home.
relationship has an uncanny ability to illuminate parts of ourselves we have lost touch with – orphans and emissaries of our unlived lives. as wisdom-guides they remind us of the two great relational fears of being abandoned or overwhelmed by the other. we’re just not sure if we want to take that kind of risk again.
eventually we may discover that the “other” is not only those fellow travelers we meet, but an “inner other” who also longs to be known, held, and to be a part of the love story of our lives. this “other” yearns more than anything for intimacy, to no longer be shut out, to enter into union with us exactly as we are.
the lost sadness, the disallowed joy, the unmet rage, the repressed grief. the barely remembered peace, the dissociated despair, the forgotten beauty. these ones are alive and will continue their journey to find us. they will never give up and will continue to take form as our lovers, family members, and friends, including those who irritate us the most.
the invitation of the beloved is to step fully into the crucible of relationship where we no longer limit the mystery of love’s expression, resisting the temptation to have love conform to our requirements. and open to the reality that the purpose of relationship is not to provide consistent feelings of safety, certainty, connection, and validation.
the beloved has not come to confirm what we think love is but rather to introduce us to the creative terrain of the unknown and to the poetic depth of our own hearts. to reintroduce us to soul figures who have become lost along the way.
as we reunite with these ones and allow them safe passage, we remove the burden from the external other to take care of this sacred task for us, which was never theirs to carry. they are able to return it to us, as the ultimate act of love, where it will be safe enough for them now to come closer. - @matthewlicata
