Don't put off doing what could be done now. ~
goodness knows if we 'wait' for the right time, it'll never get here. ~
i'll admit procrastination can be a weakness of mine. not always, but sometimes. and the thing is i always feel better for having finished whatever i set out to accomplish. waiting only makes me more stressed. why on earth would i want to do that? i still haven't figured it out. and yet i still do it. ~
so i'm making a choice and commitment to quit putting off what i should already be doing. now.
Lauren is one of the many inspiring women featured in my new exhibit "rise above: exploring the many faces of b****t cancer on cape cod" which opened last week at the cultural center of cape cod in south yarmouth, ma.
lauren is photographed surrounded by the waterlilies of greenland pond near her home in brewster, ma. she was diagnosed with two triple negative, stage 3b b****t cancers, one when she was 34 and then another 10 years later. “at 34 i was pregnant for the first time and was told i had to abort the pregnancy or i wouldn't be alive to raise my child," she recalls. lauren refused to give up on her pregnancy and sought a doctor who would be willing to treat her with the pregnancy. after chemotherapy and a mastectomy, she successfully delivered her daughter, katie, now 16. "i really wanted to b****t feed but couldn't due to the radiation and chemo. i found these amazing women who we call our "milk mamas. over twenty incredible women donated their b****t milk and fed my daughter for two years,” she says. the second diagnosis was followed by more chemotherapy, a second mastectomy then radiation. lauren chose not to have reconstruction. “these are scars i'm proud of…i kicked cancer's a*s twice. they are a symbol of strength” she explains. lauren wanted to be photographed in water because water is an essential part of her life. "not only do i teach swimming but the water has always been a healing place for me," she explains. every year, on the anniversary of the day she was first diagnosed, she, her daughter and her 83-year-old mother swim a mile to raise funds for the massachusetts b****t cancer coalition.

#powerfulwoman (the queen that is) i’m off to host a two day workshop in both korea & shanghai this week. i love doing workshops and meeting the local teams. automotive is still a very male industry, i quite often notice i’m the only woman in the room, the other day a lady near me came over to my desk and said... hey.. look!! there’s a meeting room of just women over there 👉 sad but true that this was an event to note. i wonder how the queen feels? has it ever bothered her? she must have seen a shift in her time... her composure is 👌🏻#goals
Tomorrow is a bitter/sweet day...her 1st day of school. i have been a stay at home.mom for 5years, she has been my ride or die girl. ♡ and now its time for her to spread her wings. i pray god to guide and protect her. i pray that she would be a #leadernotafollower , that her friends would be friends for life. i pray that she would be a strong independent thinker. #lovebothofmykids#revolutionist#powerfulwoman#womanofinfluence#leadernotafollower ps. i think her daddy is more nervous than me for her 1st day.
Keep smiling because life is a beautiful thing and there’s so much to smile about 💕💕. #love#powerfulwoman#happy#morocco#oriental#model#goodvibes#sponsor#sponsored#photography#hope#day#mannequin#model#morocco#beauty#hope#vibes#cute#eyecontact#eyes#summer#mykonos#sun#nails#fashion#goals
