“ryan, why do you guys keep holding back from letting us list alchemy labs on amazon. the brand would crush”
i can’t tell you how many times i get this question from amazon wholesalers, or big amazon distributors.
the answer is always: alchemy labs was developed and built for retailers. we built this line to protect mom & pop shop owners who are getting destroyed by online markets. we want a brand that retailers can sell day in and day out that will drive traffic directly back inside their stores to buy our products. another reason on why we hold back is we never want to loose control of our company. when you spend a couple years and devote all your energy into building a brand, it’s f’ing scary to give up any type of control over what you built.
however, we will be on amazon one day. that day is not right now, and when we are ready to take the step into that world. you can bet with 100% certainty that we will never give up control of our company & let anyone else distribute our product because to be honest... who knows where the products will end up. also, when the day comes we launch into the platform, we will still be priced at a high enough level to drive consumers directly into retail stores to incentivize them to purchase locally.
so if your a brand who is trying to make it in the retail market, it’s more important than ever to stay true to your original message. don’t promise something that you can’t keep. it’s better to let someone know that you aren’t sure which path your going to take, but you will keep them updated. always focus on protecting the ones who have supported you from day one, & continue to strengthen the relationships/friendships.
ps: don’t forget to stop being lazy & pick up the phone and call.
