This cilantro hummus is everything: creamy, tangy, garlicky, and green!

i wanted to throw together a quick snack to share with friends, and homemade hummus is easy + juuust a bit special. plus the semi-wilted cilantro in the produce drawer was calling my name πŸŒ±πŸ‘€πŸ‘‹πŸΌ.
.
to make, i blended: 2 cans chickpeas, the juice of 1 lime, 1/3 cup olive oil, 1 bunch cilantro, 1 garlic clove, 2 tbsp tahini, and salt to taste. (i usually put cumin in as well, but actually forgot this time around and it is still delish!)
.
cilantro hummus may be a grinchy shade of green πŸ˜‚, but i gotta say my taste buds are pretty happy right now! happy weekend y’all!

we talk a lot about insulin when it comes to diabetes, today we’re going to talk about another hormone that the pancreas produce – glucagon! glucagon’s job is to raise your bg levels. basically, if your body senses that you’re running low on energy/glucose, it will release glucagon which will tell your liver to break down glycogen into glucose for energy, make new glucose or break down stored f*t into energy.

glucagon injections are used when you’re having a hypo and unable to consume sugar by mouth either because you lack the energy or because you’re unconscious. if you’re prescribed a glucagon injection kit, make sure it’s not expired and teach someone in your family or your friends how to give an injection if you’re ever in a scenario where you’re unable to. (intramuscular injection). always contact emergency services if glucagon is administered in an emergency situation.

these can provide a lovely bit of flavour to a meal, as well as a little bit of fibre, & some vitamins & minerals e.g. garlic is a good source of vitamin c, vitamin b6 & magnesium, but of course it depends on how much garlic we eat, as 1 clove in a big p*t of pasta sauce isn't going to add much nutrition! 🍴

these foods also contain prebiotics which feeds the good bacteria in our gut πŸ’©
.
but they can trigger bloating, abdominal pain & b***l problems for some people with ibs because they are high fodmap foods (types of carbohydrates that are poorly absorbed in our small intestine) 😰
.
once again, one size doesn't fit all!

p.s. there is no good evidence that eating garlic prevents or cures a cold! πŸ€’

Before i even started cooking, i loved baking. πŸ₯–πŸ₯ the measuring, the mixing, even the cleanup was therapeutic to me. even now, when i bake i always wash everything by hand as my own little tradition, even though we have a highly capable dishwasher that any normal human being would use. πŸ‘½
one thing i was never good at baking: bread. πŸ₯–πŸž in any way shape, or form.
luckily, these 3 ingredient biscuits are emily-proof, and the perfect vehicle for a drizz of honey 🍯 (i still washed everything by hand though)
