He’s so sweet! so sweet that i can’t believe he didn’t say anything to the girl who sexually harassed him while he was on stage. i find that so horrible, if she somewhat respects harry that much she would’ve thought twice before doing this.. he deserves all the respect in the world.. - s x*x

a_kmlo #repost @instantreads (@get_repost) ・・・ i wish i could spend a day in the mind of malcolm gladwell. he takes seemingly mundane or uncorrelated events and somehow finds logic and joins the dots. outliers looks at stories of success by going beneath the surface to explore the unique circumstances and actions taken by successful groups or individuals. • although probably too modest to admit it, malcolm is an outlier. in a world full of unsuccessful writers malcolm gladwell has risen to the top of the writing game. his own theory would suggest this position has much more to do with a mix of concentrated effort plus good fortune rather than any supernatural unique talent or ability. • each chapter explores an example by where a combination of circumstance, practice and pure chance land people in unique positions to be successful. from avoidable plane crashes to the hidden advantages of jewish immigrants gladwell seamlessly ties ideas together to make his case. • my favourite and probably most famous takeaway from this book is the 10,000 hour rule. it’s said that 10,000 is the number of dedicated, deliberate hours of practice required to reach complete mastery at any given task. gladwell gives the example of the beatles, who by chance had to spend hours upon hours performing in hamburg perfecting their craft before they made it big. or bill gates who was one of the first people in the unique position to be able to practice computer coding for anywhere near that length of time. as gladwell concludes “practice isn’t the thing you do once you’re good. it’s the thing you do that makes you good”. • a refreshing reminder that success is not a formula and comes in all shapes and sizes. • #outliers #success #malcolmgladwell _____________ #books #reviews #reading #good #readers #readmore #bookinstagram #review #knowledge #usa #uk #quote #thoughts

oldbook_revival_newbook2017 The wounds of hunger. by luis spota. penguin. translated and edited by barnaby conrad. publication date of: 1961. first published in: 1938. . “hunger wounds worse than the bulls” is a spanish saying. the english-speaking world has tended either to idolise the strutting spectacle of the bull-fight or to deplore the cruelty of it. writers, with the exception of hemingway, have obscured the arena with a pink ⛅️ cloud of romantic dust. but the real world of the arena is hard, brutal, crooked, and often depraved. this novel tells a true story. one of mexico’s leading critics, rafael solana said of it in ‘el universal’ : hemingway’s writing on the bulls is good. spota’s is better.” this is the harsh, shocking story of a young matadors struggle to avoid starvation and make his name was awarded the ciudad de mexico 🇲🇽 prize on publication. . #books #readers #reading #book #ilovereading #readersofinstagram #instareaders #instabooks #instabook #fiction #penguinbooks #oldbooks #bookcollector #bookcollection #mybookcollection #bookquotes #revival #quotesfrombooks #bookreviews #interestingbook #luisspota #reading #followme #followforfollow
