six colorful kites that want to fly among the clouds.☁️
as they fly in the sky, they will make us a visual feast with rainbow colors.🌈
but the kites' tail ornaments are missing, they can never fly like this.🙁
let's help them.😉
let's add colorful paper clips to their tails according to their colors and numbers.🤗
i recommend you to take a look at my dear friend @momofthegalaxy had prepared a wonderful event with colorful paper clips.
ticking off ‘tinfoil’ on the #playathometoday bingo grid.
as you probably have noticed that when i make any crafts they are usually left quite basic and if i make anything out of cardboard i do not paint or decorate it really. so when @em5k81ivf gave me the challenge to take part in the giveaway challenge #littlestorycrafttoday, i thought i would try a little harder. for this i reused the nuts and bolts poster tube and toilet rolls i made last week, adding them to a box that i used for the robot’s body.
(see previous nuts & bolts post for how to make the toilet roll legs and poster tube arms on the robot.)
reality is the boys thought the robot was a present, they unwrapped him and stripped him bare in seconds 🤣🙈. however this was a brilliant way to build up the dexterity snd strength in those little fingers. luca spent ages making sure he unscrewed all of the nut and bolts.
•loose parts (i used a spice pot, bangles, cogs, cotton reel, metal straw, wooden rings, log slices)
•tin foil and the tube
•nuts & bolts
•fine and gross motor skills
•explore, investigate, collect and compare
•cause and effect
•problem solving (having different sized nuts and bolts and having to work out which sized nut fit which bolt)
•the experience of using real life everyday objects
(curriculum links: 8-20 months and 30-50 months moving and handling; understanding; listening and attention; reading; speaking; health and self care)

Recycled counting frame || this diy counting frame is great for developing so many early math skills. it's perfect for practising number recognition, counting, 1:1 correspondence and subitising. it's also great for strengthening fine motor and colour recognition skills.
to make the frame, i painted a s***p of cardboard box, pasted down some number stickers (these ones are from @officeworks ) and strips of yarn. we then counted out and attached the corresponding number of pegs to the yarn (i bought the little pegs from @officeworks too). save this activity to try later and remember to follow along for more bright and colourful learning games. #recycleandplay#cinta_numeracy

•alphabet stone activity for the garden•
this is such an easy activity and one that you will return to over and over again! get your kids outside with this fun alphabet activity that you can try in the garden or just place the alphabet stones around the yard! kids will love searching for them and get super excited when they see the chalk letters magically disappear with the help of the watering can.
see the details here: https://littlepinelearners.com/alphabet-stone-activity-for-the-garden/
What is helping you get through these strange times?
for me - it’s definitely crafting with the children and gardening. 👩👦👦👩👦🌱 yesterday we put the music on, rain was pelting down and we made some hungry caterpillars. we recycled some cardboard from some recent deliveries and popped out a variety of materials for the children to set about making their greedy caterpillars. 🐛
don’t they look adorable!? 🥰
Diy castle 🏰 .
finally after 2 days of working on this project our we can finally reveal our project! we made a castle 🏰 .
a huge thank you for all of your comments! the kids had a blast listening to all of the guesses!
i am so proud of them as they worked soo h*****n this project! .
this idea came about as p wanted to make a castle. we all sat down and drew up plans of what we wanted our castle to look like.
then we discussed which cardboard box was going to go where & what we wanted to add e.g. windows, castle points etc. .
day 1 - we cut, built and pieced the castle together
. then we started painting it. the kids didn’t want to stop but it got late so we continued on with our project the next day. .
day 2: we finished painting the castle & then we started decorating it. i split the castle up into two parts. the younger children decorated the entrance to the castle and the older children decorated the castle. i was very impressed at how well they all worked together & they spent so much time on it too! they were all so focused! .
is our castle complete? actually no! we still have to add more pieces to our castle! the kids wanted to add furniture & people. so will keep you all posted! .
so we spent the afternoon painting and generally ripping the house apart looking for bits of old wool for tails and manes. i’m pretty impressed to be fair. the girl had loads of fun demanding to use my expensive model making paints, including all the iridescent acyrlics usually reserved for panto model boxes and we used up some wool that i had lying around since circa 2009 (😂 sometimes being a hoarder pays off)
Play food 🥫🧃
saw this on someone's facebook feed and thought this was a great idea. i love recycling and making toys with toot as i call it.
remive the sleeve from a can and attach to an empty toilet roll tube to create real looking play food "tins" (i've kept the barcode on as lil one likes to 'bip' on her till)
i attached the labels with double sided sticky tape from @poundland but you could use glue stick or sellotape #playwithtoot#playfood#reusedmaterials#recycleplay#recycleandplay#freeandeasyplayidea#simple
🚀ⓢⓟⓐⓒⓔ ⓑⓤⓢ🚀 got a bit carried away with this one! it started as a box with doors for the 1yo who is obsessed with getting in and out of things. then after last week’s rocket launch it took on a new life! it was a great week long project between planning what we’d do, what materials we’d use, what features it needed, working out how to support the roof, then the construction itself and finally the painting which was an art lesson in itself. so much learning in it - planning, construction, engineering, problem solving, splatter painting, language around-vehicles, space & driving & then of course days and days of play. well worth the effort! #cardboardbus#cardboardcreations#cardboardconstruction#spacebus#play#toddlerplayideas#toddlerplay#creativeplay#artforkids#splatterpaint #recycleandplay#makecreateplay

🍉 watermelon counting 🍉
this is a fun way to practice counting. i used numbers 1-10 for miss a who is 3 and for mr n who is 4 and well versed with those numbers, i used numbers 10-20.
i asked mr n to acknowledge the number below each watermelon slice, and plant the correct number of ‘seeds’ in each.
he would say the number out loud, and then count as he pressed each seed into to the playdough.
visit my blog (link in bio) for what you need and for ideas on how you can adapt this for older children.

Reposted from @littlehappylearners 🐛 hungry caterpillar threading 🐛
happy tuesday, we are doing all things butterflies and caterpillars this week because our butterflies are beginning to emerge from their chrysalides.
it only seemed right that we dug out our hungry caterpillar threading activity from earlier this year and it’s been a hit again.
🥰😉emotions! 🤣😢 as we explore who we are we are also discussing our feelings. grab this leftover easter eggs and upcycle them to an interactive experience! what a great way to discuss how we were feeling this morning! 💙materials: printed a bunch of faces from @printcutpastecraft, sharpie, eggs from easter, @kineticsand, @dollartree paper plates (also just extra) and @scotts laminator paper . 💚prep: medium-because i added the laminating and that is an extra step ❤️engagement was high because it was interactive and the sand allowed us to talk about warm and cool feelings...blue is shown here...come back tomorrow for the red side! by the way-how are you feeling today? drop an emoji below! .
Haircut day! 💇♀️ this was so much fun! i very quickly had to think up this game to distract my toddler from cutting my hair; we were doing lockdown haircuts in our house and he wanted to know when it was his turn to so the cutting! 😱
this was one of the longest games to set up but it paid off with a very happy toddler who was kept occupied for ages!
