7 weeks ago, mama p and her little beans. i heard from the vet tech at the allen county spca and priscilla is doing great. she’s scheduled for spay surgery tomorrow. (after getting a vaccine last week priscilla had a reaction and went back to the spca to get the care she needed.) in a few days, she will be up for adoption.
meanwhile, at the whitley county humane society, lucy is still waiting for her forever home. i always feel sad for these mama cats. if only people were responsible enough to spay and neuter. 😿
Here’s your feel good story for the day! 🐆when a young #leopard was found behind a hospital in bokakhat town in assam, india last week, a rescue call was made to the ifaw-wti team. it was tricky darting the leopard, who was hidden behind a bamboo wall in a cluttered area, but a well-coordinated effort ensured he was safely sedated. within 15 minutes, the young male was rescued from a situation that was potentially dangerous for both him and community members!
the leopard was put under close observation. after the team determined he was ready, he was released back into the wild! it's always a proud moment when we see the successful release of an individual animal we rescue. ❤️

With all the rain, we’ve been responding to many vehicle accidents with patients entrapped in their cars. here are two videos from a training put on late last year to practice specialized types of extrications with limited access or abnormal conditions.
how to reserve nyc acc animals at risk:
#1 please visit:
https://newhope.shelterbuddy.com/animal/list#2 pick the dog* or a cat* you would like to save, click on “reserve”. you will be asked to create an account and fill out a form and will have to pay a fee.
#3 after you reserve you will receive an email and will need to make an appointment to go to one of the shelters to meet and greet your new pup or kitten 💜
*you will only be able to reserve a dog or a cat who is publicly adoptable. if you see a message saying “sorry this animal’s can’t be reserved” please go to:
to find acc approved new hope rescue that can help pull a dog or a cat for you!
important: you can reserve any of the fur baby until 12pm, after 12pm system refreshes and animals have one more hour to be reserved by a rescue, then the acc staff makes the decision whether to let them be on the nightly list one more night, or be euthanized! there have been dogs that were on the list for 5 nights, they are the lucky ones, and many who were murdered the next day even before anyone could come and rescue them! please don’t wait till the last minute! 🙏🏼 💥this must be done before noon🕤... a strict requirement. .
A little great pyr lesson for today: .
gps, like many long double coated dogs, don't shed all year round like other breeds. one to two times a year they'll do what's called a "blow out" or "blowing coat". it's aptly nicknamed (as you could see from the fur pile). .
.i adore my great pyr and wouldn't trade her for the world. but this is something to keep in mind for anyone curious about owning one. some people view it as a bonus, since that means they aren't shedding everywhere constantly. but when it does happen, it looks like someone's murdered a couch. .
.this was a three hour brush out, which is a crazy feat for someone like me (with ra). being on the floor/my knees for three hours is tough, but it's cheaper than getting her groomed. most places, at least in my area, charge ~$90 for a bath, dry, and brushing. that doesn't include nails, ears, and teeth. it's easily understandable though, their grooming can be pretty intense. but i think it's definitely worth it 😍
