day 6: we swam 5.4 km today in total. the morning swim started at agios pavlos where the apostle st paul is said to have landed during bad weather on his voyage to greece in the 1st century. we followed the coastal edge of the samaria national park to the village of agia roumeli. located a few kilometers above the town is the southern entrance to the samaria gorge. the gorge is the longest gorge in greece and one of the longest in europe, measuring 18 km. we ate lunch in agia roumeli and then explored the town. rough seas cancelled our afternoon swim but we were able to swim later outside our hotel in loutro in the bay. the water was still quite rough. we then had dinner as a group, our final meal together. we all leave saturday. this has been a remarkable trip! the experiences i’ve had and the people i shared them with i will remember forever.
