This caption has got nothing to do with the photo but i want to take this opportunity to share with you briefly my entrepreneurship journey.
back in our polytechnic days not long ago, @roshxz_ and i started @themeetupsg which i'm sure most of you guys know. but what you do not know is how tough it was. it was tough for me because my parents were not supportive. some of our closest friends were not supportive. when i say not supportive, i mean we really heard discouraging comments that hurt us and to a certain extent, made us doubtful. time management was also a real shit. we were both young and nobody truly believed in us.
it was not too long ago when people started opening their eyes and appreciating our work. it was not too long ago when my parents are becoming more supportive but they are honestly still 100% not there. but it's fine, it's still progress! it was not too long ago when we started to get recognition and even get invited to speak about our business.
things definitely took time for us but one thing i am most grateful about is the people i've met and now they are my closest friends. they say being an entrepreneur is a lonely journey, and it is true. i am blessed enough to have one person who stuck with me from the very beginning. that is why i truly believe in our youth networking event happening this saturday. i strongly feel that this society we have is narrow-minded. this society tells youth "grades are the only way. if you're s**t in your studies, 80% chance you'll fail". is education important? yes, i still believe it is! but educating yourself does not only mean books and getting as. it also means getting yourself out there and gaining experience. it also means doing what you love and learning how to improve it! heck, it can also mean your own self-improvement.
it'll really mean a lot to us if you share this post or @themeetupsg 's post. even if you're not interested, do share still as you will never know which friend of yours is itching to start something but is afraid. or maybe your followers or family. it can be anyone, honestly. we, @themeetupsg , want to create a community and empower youths. life is short, start doing what you love.

⚠️w a r n i n g⚠️ grandmother story post ahead.
nil sine labore. ❤️
it hasn’t been long for many, but i’m really grateful and thankful for how much each and everyone of them grew.
looking back at all the recordings that they’ve sent, those that were recorded but didn’t get sent cos they were inaudible, the constant nagging, the sudden outburst of anger, it was all worth it.
syf’s played a huge part of my growth. from a budding performer, to sitting through 5 full days of performances by every single school and now an instructor.
since the first syf i had in year 2000, the mc for the event will always say that it’s about the process and not the destination before the announcement of results. why? because they know that, inevitably, everyone who gets any less than gold (with or without honours)/ distinction would be disappointed despite putting in as much effort as they could.
yes, some may be disappointed, but look back and think about the rehearsals, all the music making, all the friendships forged, they’re irreplaceable. not now, not in the future.
all these memories, some happy, some salty, some were unfortunately, painful. but if i didn’t join co back in primary school, i probably wouldn’t have made it to where i am today.
so the moral of the story is: count your blessings with gratitude no matter how small or big they are and stop letting your lacks blindfold you from noticing how blessed you already are..

Top 10 takeaways from @growthbeans self awareness festival 2019 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 1) meaningful conversation is about connecting.
communicate: it's all about me.
connecting: it's all about you.
2) 3 levels of conversation.
light disclosure: talk about ourself and the world around you
medium disclosure: beliefs, opinions, feelings and ideas
heavy disclosure: fears/insecurity
3) vulnerability: you start with showing some imperfection
empathy: match the level of emotion with the other person
active listening: listen and give signs of understanding
difficult conversation is the start of meaningful conversation.
4) knowing nothing is something. remind youself that you're nothing. who are you? exclude all the external factors just as jobs, labels, ambitions, etc. really who are you?
5) 3 ways to be mindful to have a more inclusive conversation.
-focus less on interpretation. -observe/be aware of b****y sensations
6) how to to avoid getting scammed?
- when people are scamming you, they want you to make projections.
- people can always fake their gestures and body language.
- just state exactly what is observed
7) if you can't change your situation, change your response about it.
8) make observation based on just what you see. don't make judgement on that person. it makes you more forgiving
9) be open about your problems and keep telling or asking people about it. there will be people who are willing to help you.
10) fear is like your mother trying to protect you from doing crazy things. ignore the fear like how you ignore your mother's advice and just do it.
