wish me luck guys i got a dendrology quiz tomorrow and trying to remember the spelling of scientific names such as (cephalanthus occidentalis) is killing me. btw that’s buttonbush in case anyone was curious. i also have to memorize family names.

this flower is called the purple cone flower (echinacea purpurea) another common name for them is snake root. they are in the daisy family and are native to eastern and northern america. they are found in prairies and open woodland. the bloom from early summer to late summer.
they are believed to have medicinal properties with boosting the immune system. and were once used as a cure all medicine by certain groups of native americans.
My little sister @pocketsfull.ofsunshine recently got into crocheting and made origami some super cute snake sweaters.
i still have to take photos of the pink one. but i did take a whole bunch of photos of this cute multi-pastel color sweater.
we may live in a city but that doesn’t stop us from trying to bring as much biodiversity to our tiny little garden. we get over 5 different species of bee, 4 different species of wasps, 7 different species of butterfly, all different kinds of spiders including the giant garden orb weaver, praying mantis and at least over 10 different species of beetle and plenty of other small invertebrates.
