It’s hard to describe what “finding” this place means to us... because it’s so very very close to home. you see, for my lady and i we are canoe- trippers to the core. it’s where our love of adventure/ misadventure began. it checks off all the boxes of what we love on a backcountry adventure. hardship. good food. good wine. water. stars. canoe. tent. portages. sunrises. sunsets. off grid. silence. family. and in some cases even mountains. 8km of portages and 16km of paddling with @expeditionersbella@mikioorion and @_catalinasofia_ ... and for me to get the gear there and back... add another 16km of portages (where you carry all the gear/ canoe overland for a total of 24km of trekking and 16km of paddling,) and voila you have the trappings of a memories for a lifetime. because that’s what it’s all about for me. experiences. and keeping my little ones alive and happy is a whole new dimension. more to come on that. for now, i leave you with this spectacular morning we had yesterday— on day five of our expedition with mikio and catalina. and major kudos to my lady cherine for being such a super mom. you’re my best friend, life partner, mother of my children, and adventure buddy extraordinaire. glad we found some wild moments for ourselves too.
Your hardest times often leads to the greatest moments of your life. keep the faith. it will all be worth it in the end.

Dreaming of future adventures and looking back on past ones. nothing says “dreamy” to me like exploring the magnificent vistas you find all around the canadian rockies. this is a popular spot among photographers and you can see why, with gorgeous views of the three sisters, you can’t go wrong in any season. enjoyed seeing it snow covered for the first time back in january, but watch your step, that ice is deceiving!! two days later this was mostly open water due to warmer temps. what past adventures have you been looking back on during quarantine??

Starring out the window, getting lost in the views.
Our summit didn’t quite go to plan. a clear, hot weekend turned into a cold trek, blanketed in fog. we missed out on the satisfaction of a view but the fog always adds a unique, eerie feeling that quite suits a rugged mountain top. not to mention it makes really cool looking photos!

taken 3/18/20 last time my toes were in the sand 👣
This past trip was my ninth time driving across the usa, and i was pretty stoked to finally visit some beautiful places that i’d never been before: the wind river range, tahoe, and lassen volcanic national park. it brings me a lot of joy to experience a new place for the first time.
i took this photo in lassen. the geology and landscape of that park is mind-blowing.
i hiked up cinder cone volcano to take a good look down into the crater and out at the surrounding lava fields. then i sped over to manzinita lake to catch this view of the alpenglow burning orange and pink on the mountains at sunset.
it was definitely an experience i’ll remember. i covered 7,500 miles going coast to coast, and it made me think about how huge and varied the landscape of this country is, and how many places i’d still like to see someday.

Idyllic. looking forward to the day i can call a cabin like this my own!
It’s important to know your role in the bwca. for example, the guys in the canoe are catching walleye. the guy behind the camera would later eat the walleye.

I'm all about sun days 😄 and mini weekend dates. domaine chandon is open by appointment, and these chic socially-distant cabanas overlooking the vineyards are such a good way to catch the california sun. their cabana or picnic experiences come with all the ingredients for a 🔥 afternoon: bubby, cheese, and lots of seasonal goodies. if you need me, i'll be here savoring a flight of crisp @chandonusa
