Remember the post last week i made about my eating to many grapes? a sweet woman at my workshop had read my post and brought me a gift! she said i want to help you get those last 8 lbs off to get you back to goal. she handed me a bag of cotton candy grapes and @sprouts portion control bags! how sweet is that? i put in one cup which is a serving size and that also was just about the grams the app said was a serving too. perfect!

✅squats: squat shoes (ss) have can allow for hitting a greater squat depth as a result of the elevated heel increasing initial plantarflexion by ~3.5-5deg. this can therefore be beneficial for those with poor ankle mobility (most people). furthermore, as deeper squat depths have shown to be better for glute activation (caterisano2002), this can thus aid those seeking to grow their bootay. along with increased squat depth, ss have also shown to aid in keeping a more upright torso (fortenbaugh et al 2010, legg et al 2017, sato et al 2012) which can be beneficial for maintaining the bar over your cog & reducing the shear on the lumbar spine that results from forward lean (myer 2014). finally, ss are a lot more stable around the ankle & due to their hard soles can aid in creating more force as, unlike running shoes which absorb the ground impact forces for you, ss allow you to use those forces to your advantage. though ss may be best for squatting, an obvious (yet significant) down side of them is their price so if you have the disposable income then go ahead & buy a pair, if not, potentially consider barefoot or chucks which still have a flat hard sole⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

✅deadlifts: same as above as the goal is to create as much force as possible thus many will opt to still go with ss or switch to chucks/barefoot which still have a hard sole to push off of⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

✅running: choice of running shoe is an important issue for runners as certain models of shoes can improve running economy (fuller et al 2015). however, overall, unlike when squatting/deadlifting, a more padded sole which absorbs ground impact forces is advised when running as minimalist shoes have been associated with increased injury (ryan et al 2014)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Adding layers to loading strategies of getting in and out of the hips with emphasis on the foot and hip. first movement seems small but with intent can stress the hip heavily loading into the hip crossing the opposite leg pulling deeper into the socket. second is my pendulum swings with a plate elevating the back leg to get deeper in the hip and foot vs the staggered stance i have posted in the past #explorethecorners @hannahday2.

We all want to achieve our goals, but sometimes we don’t have the right path planned for it, especially with all these distractions around us... from social media to opinions... we want to change our lives but we find ourselves in the same circles going round and round.
let me ask you, can you just dedicate 6 months of your life toward your goals? just vanish for some time? no announcements no nothing, just fall back and do the work... it sounds worth it to me, we get lost sometimes and there is only one person to guide us back and to save us which is ourselves! ———-
