the son of a leather tanner, milton avery worked for decades in blue-collar jobs to support his family while becoming one of the leading figures of american abstract painting. he was revolutionary in his use of color and unconventional illusionary depictions of space. annette and louis kaufman befriended avery in the 1920s in new york city and commissioned these portraits to help support him. lifelong friends and patrons of the artist, the kaufmans amassed a renowned collection of the artist's work in all media.

In case you hadn't met. this is lorenzo, larry's best mate.
they met in new york and lorenzo regaled larry with tales from his disco dancing past at studio 54.
appropriate that his favourite place to hang out is on a glitterball.
don't forget you can order one for yourself for christmas!. a lorenzo is not just for christmas though, he will cheer you up for the rest of the year! 📸@nicfordphotographer
