•fact families• my students love playing “find your family.” you write down fact family facts on separate index cards and students have to find their “family of 4” without talking. once they have all of their facts they sit down in a circle. we had an unequal number so a couple of students had 2 cards. then, you can mix up the cards and play a second time. so easy!! #iteachfirst#iteachtoo#math#mathgames#teachersfollowteachers#teachersofinstagram
#thankfulteacherphotochallenge day 12- thankful for a colleague;
🍎 you know who helps teachers the most? other teachers!
🍎 i have made so many lifetime friendships from all the schools and incredible teachers i’ve worked with.
🍎 sometimes they are your “partner in crime”.
🍎 sometimes they are your “workout buddy”.
🍎 sometimes they help you hang 22 ukuleles in your room @eclectic_body .
🍎 sometimes they are a listening ear and help you solve a problem with your classroom.
🍎 sometimes they are the reason you come to school.
🍎 sometimes those teachers turn into friends and you can witness them getting married, have their children, or see them through a hardship.
🍎 sometimes you travel with them and see the world outside of your classroom.
🍎 sometimes you move 8 different world drum kits all over schools in the the bronx (some with 4 flights of stairs!) and you laugh the whole time.
🍎 sometimes teachers provide the glue to hold your broken life together with a simple hug and smile everyday when you get to school (because you made it out of bed another day). 🍎 that last one was my life about 5 years ago. eternally grateful for the incredible group of humans i worked with and taught. i miss you. #thankful#teachershelpingteachers#teacher#friends#imissyou#foreverfriends#kansas#newyork#brooklyn#teamworkmakesthedreamwork#musiceducation#iteachmusic#musicteacher#musicteachersofinstagram#teachersofinstagram#fredthebee
Thank god for @elizabethrichardsaus and write and wipe sleeves, the only thing that makes 28 eight-year-olds want to practise their handwriting! 📝 also shoutout to the @teachstarter widget that lets you write your own handwriting sheets since my boys will only engage with tasks to do with bees at the moment 🐝🙄
A huge reason why i wanted to work for myself 5 years ago was because i often find rules made by admin/managers/bosses to be really dumb. i don’t mind following rules as long as i feel like they are purposeful but often times i find myself willing myself to not 🙄🙄🙄🙄. however: i’m trying to remember that even though i might find a rule like—you must wear shoes at all times because of “safety audits” to be reallllllly stupid—it may actually just bother my principal to see me without shoes annnnd honestly—whatever. it’s cool. it bothers me a lot that dress code in general is very gendered sooo maybe if i were principal i would come down on that. #teaching#firstyearteacher#secondgradeteacher#secondgrade#teachersfollowteachers#teachersofinstagram

“tell me something good” 🎶 🎶 .
we started this monday off with some positivity! it’s amazing how different our day progresses if we start out on the right foot. need inspiration? the @bobbybonesshow is exploding with positivity every morning!
a gentle feeling of fondness or liking.
when the boys are sick, my anxiety is through the roof. nothing i hate more then wondering what is happening in their little bodies. i wish i could take all of their hurts away.
today was spent at home relaxing and playing with mr. 4. he’s never been a very cuddly child, and as much as i hate seeing him under the weather, i took advantage of every little bit of a f f e c t i o n he gave me! lots of cuddles, lots of “i love you’s”, and lots of one on one time. my heart could explode with love for this boy.
luckily, the light pad made everything feel better. he gathered all of his materials, while sorting them in the tray and quietly played for an hour. i love listening to all of the stories he creates during his play. check out my insta stories if you’d like to hear a glimpse of it ❤️
