The super talented, strong, kind @jbreton22 tagged me to #stopdropandyoga today! thank you, fellow canuck jo, for thinking of me! here is something that i'm currently working on: lotus! my feet are super stiff and i find lotus quite awful so i don't work on it very often. this is the first time i've posted a lower-down into lotus, and it takes me a while to get my other foot into position...but practice makes progress! it was also my first time jumping back to chatarunga from the arm balance...i didn't know how else to get down! πŸ˜πŸ˜‚πŸ€” i'm now sending the tag to my new canadian friend @angelsandscallywags -- tina, would you like to #strikeapose when you have time?

it might sound mean but progress and goals aren't going to be handed to you. you want to see muscle definition? life heavier. you want to loose fat? eat better. there's no quick fix, there's no "2 week detox to a 6pack" but i can promise you that if you put in the effort for a bit, you will start to see the results you desire. and that's when you push harder. not because you have to, but because you will want to!

Haven't leaned out quite as much as i'd like to so with 6 weeks ahead i'm gonna have to adjust my macros to be a little more aggressive and train harder!

When you don't have time for one full workout do you skip it?

hell nah!
today i woke up late and thiyght "okay, do i skip my workout" and usually i would have let that slide but i already missed one this week so i said fuq it, went to the gym and did 35 of #liss because that was all i had time for.

then, after work, i did 40 minutes of @kelseywells #pwr #glutes and #hammies... usually these workouts would have been combined into a 1h+ workout but today, that wasn't in the cards! so 2 shorter workouts it was!

*first for everything*

yesterday i did an ab workout... at the gym and... i wore a crop top!

crop tops came into fashion a number of years ago.... and when they first came out i remember thinking i would never be confident enough to wear one.

well, a few years later (now), i have come to realize that a) you don't need a 6 pack to wear a crop top and b) who cares what anyone thinks? i'm proud of my hard work!

i got a lot of people looking at me, i'm sure the girls at the gym hated me and so much of my brain is affected by those looks and thoughts but i did my best to ignore that mindset and just be proud and confident as anyone in a crop top should be!

so this is a reminder to step out of your comfort zone and try something new!

We don't have time, we make time. i know for me i lead a busy life. i work an hour an a half away, my gym is 30 minutes from my home, and i pole twice a week at a studio an hour from me. i spent a lot of time traveling thiugh out the day and couldn't imagine adding another component into my life.

but i can. i just have to make time.

everyone is busy. everyone has stuff going on through the week. and i'm not "lucky" i have time for my own fitness and health, i make time. i spend sunday afternoons meal prepping rather than hanging with friends. and sometimes i'm smart enough to do 2 weeks worth and freeze it.

its not easy. but i can be done. you just have to want it.

Some days we slay, we walk around in crop tops and short shorts cause we feel fly af πŸ”₯ ... and other days we wear our baggy shirts and loose pants cause we feel not so fly πŸ™„. some days i'm super proud of my arms... but most days i hide what my arms look like flexed because i don't like it.

days like today though i am reminded of my accomplishments. someone i don't even know know stopped me... yes, stopped me to ask what i do to workout my arms. i told them, i go to the gym 5 days a week and hit the weight rack and i take pole dancing πŸ’ͺ
remember: we all have off days. we all have days where we feel less than confident. but we are our biggest and harshest critiques. don't be so h*****n yourself and remember that you work hard and should appreciate yourself every-damn-day! 😊

i love this shirt not only because it's hilarious but because it speaks to my love of fitness and treats. it reminds me not to get caught up in the #gains and actually enjoy the little things in life and for me those little things are donuts.... or cookies... or whatever i want! and you know when i have it? when i want.

i find telling myself "no treats for a week" makes me eat all the treats... everyday! 🐷then i feel guilty... but if i loosen the reigns and just go with "do i actually want it or am i just bored" and if i can honestly answer most of the time i'm just bored and say no... but when i force myself to go a week i get stubborn and eat everything!

and that's why i like balance.

i don't like when things change on me... but sometimes change is good.

i've been increasing my calorie intake for the last month and it's scary because i see it changing my body... i feel fuller and sometimes even uncomfortable but i know my body just needs to get used to the change and then i'll get used to this increase and slowly feel like myself again! so remember, with new goals and new lifestyles comes change.... and sometimes change takes time to show its good!

i love working abs! but there are so many places people can go wrong...form... focus... speed.

with abs especially you can often use momentum to get you most of the way! try slowing things down like your leg lifts, ab bikes, jackknives and the like.

also form, if you're hips are titled you're really only relying on your body weight to hold you... for instance with leg raises: your bending at your half way point so you can lift your legs and drop them down relying on the fact that your upper body will keep you grounded. tilt your hips up so your back is flat on the ground, then slowly lift up and bring down!

and lastly focus! focus on the muscles. focus on using those muscles to pull your legs up and in or hold your legs above the ground! focus on the muscle activation!

Missions accomplished!

this week i set a goal: 5 workouts in 5 days. today is day 6 and i have completed that goal! πŸŽ‰ it's weird how accomplishing such a small goal can make you feel so motivated! i say it's a small goal because i used to be able to do 5 workouts in 5 days like it was nothing... now i work full time and it's a little more challenging. but i'm always up for a challenge! πŸ’ͺ

i've also been focused on increasing my weights each week along with my calories! so far i'm up a hundred calories more than i used to be and my weights have increased a bit here and there! can't wait to see what another hundred cals does for me! 🀞

Too sleepy for a morning workout today... and that's okay! rescheduling a workout is better than missing one all together... so i will make it up this weekend! easy!

i've decided to be less strict with my exercises as i was aiming for 6 to 7 days a week along with pole all day saturdays... now i'm going for 5 days plus a pole day so that will be like 6 workouts total!

i want to enjoy my free time a bit more and not feel guilty about needing something as simple as a little extra sleep.

but that doesn't mean i was a πŸ₯” all day, i managed to do a couple of these guys! πŸ‘†

72 days until summer... technically. that appears to be everyone finish line... and for a long time it was also my finish line. until i realized i wanted to continue this path, this journey, through to forever.

i have my ups and downs....thats why it's a journey and not a destination. and right now i feel like im on a down... march was a rough month, life got in the way and now after easter there's all these treats just calling my name.... but i'm putting my foot down πŸ‘‡ its time i go back up πŸ‘†

i finish bbg stronger 1.0 next week, that leaves 2 weeks of april before may. i intend to do week 11 and 12 of stronger 1.0, again. and come may i will do stronger 2. 0 and some #pwr plus a couple spin classes here and there! that oughta do it! πŸ‘Š

i love monday because it gets my favourite and least favourite workout done all at once. i love legs because of how accomplished i feel after, but i also hate legs because it kills πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚ #bbgstronger week 9 legs were no joke! gonna feel that tomorrow πŸ™Š
