🍿 #nochedepelis: the post (2017) 🍿
@coachtbrown97@reynaldohill21 there is a common respect between the 3 of us. each have different backgrounds and each followed a different path to get to where we are today. the common thread that keeps us in touch is not only the brotherhood, it’s our passion about the youth and figuring out ways to help change the world. i love you guys and thanks for helping today. #theacademy#footballclinic#nfl#cfl#ufl #d-1
Hay guise, something weird is happening. i’m getting ridiculously strong with barely any effort. i’ve also been noticing a few more grey hairs starting to show out. i think my old man strength is finally kicking in!!!!!
515x3 for my top set on trap bar deadlifts (wanted 5, but technique was getting shoddier by the rep and my old man instincts told me not to get greedy).
followed that up with 4x5 heavy split squats (70s, 80s, 2 sets with the 90s). none of it felt absurdly difficult..i’ve definitely ground out much more grueling reps in the past.
so not only am i lifting heavier than i have in years, with less effort...but there’s also a lot less trepidation approaching the weights. this exact sort of thing would have had me shitting my pants when i was in my “lifting prime,” today these sets were pretty casual. never thought i’d say that about picking up 500#, but we’ve all found ourselves capable of so much more than weaker, early versions of ourselves would have thought.
i’m pretty sure that the work i’ve been putting in on the power tower over the past few weeks has given me a tremendous boost in endurance and work capacity; and that paired with making smarter training and nutrition decisions than i used to is really working wonders for my ability to get s**t done without it killing me.
