As the star of ncis, the top rated program among viewers 49+, old people definitely like mark harmon, the subject of today's #mancrushmonday.
harmon started his acting career once he got out of college in the 70's and had guest appearances on shows such as laverne & shirley and the hardy boys but it wasn't until he joined the cast of st. elsewhere in 1983 that his star truly started to shine brightly. harmon was on st. elsewhere for three years as dr. robert caldwell and his character contracted h*v through unprotected intercourse--one of the first times that a major character was diagnosed as such. he left st. elsewhere in 1986 and was named people magazine's sexiest man alive that year and went on to star as ted bundy in the deliberate stranger. totally creepy. he did some movies and some other tv shows but it was his role as leroy jethro gibbs on ncis that turned him into a favorite of the old timer set.
i don't know much about ncis--i suspect they solve crimes and it has that one goth woman that probably reminds grandparents of the time their grandaughters went through that punk phase but aside from that i don't know much about it--only that it has been on tv for 15 years and old timers can't get enough of it.
as for his personal life, harmon is kind of a low key dude. he's been married to pam dawber (a.k.a. mindy from mork & mindy) since 1987. they've got two sons. he was a carpenter before he became an actor--kind of a poor man's harrison ford. .
