A couple of months ago, i met up with @kelseyreidl to chat about sunday’s company, for her #visionarylife podcast, where she has face to face conversations with inspiring humans around the world on the topics of peak health, inspired living and entrepreneurship.
when you get a moment, have a listen. we talk about my toronto life, my life with dogs, my big move to the country, how i fell in love with plants and how this business baby came to be.
thanks to kelsey for easing me into my first podcast interview. it was such a pleasure 🌻
It’s 30+ degrees today so all the blinds are closed in an attempt to keep the house cool. i hope my plants can survive with the lack of sun these past few days🤞🏼much love to the heatwave rolling through southern ontario... jk, where’s my travel sized deodorant bc it literally needs to be on my person at all times in this weather😂⠀
how are you keeping cool today??

My life: yesterday was a tough one for me as a mum. i have one of those kids that hates to talk - and yesterday he opened up about a rough time he was having at school with some kids.
it happens all the time in school yards and learning how to deal with this is part of growing up. a good friend said to me though, that the toughest part about his first encounters with bullies wasn’t so much physical but is how it made him feel about himself. that if someone else was willing to do/say that to him then he must be ‘lacking’ in some way.
it was a bit of a eye opener for me. we internalise from such a young age. taking in opinions and thoughts and adopting them without the judgement or critical eye of adulthood. these opinions stick. even if they are completely ridiculous.
i’ve made no secret that i struggle with the idea of being good enough - hell, the word is tattooed on my wrist for a reason.
one of the challenges for me is that my default is to think that i am less deserving than everyone else. therefore everyone must think i’m a [insert whatever insult of the day here]. this kind of thinking is what stops us from doing stuff - all the time!
if from an early age i was able to teach myself that what others say and do doesn’t affect my worth, then maybe i would be better placed now.
if you were able to say to yourself ‘that person thinking i’m too young to be competent in business is simply what they think. it should not stop me from being visible in my business. how awesome would that feel?
so much of what we think is a lack of confidence is not about what we really think about ourselves - but what we think other people think about us.
i wish i knew how to change that thinking in myself. in the meantime though you can bet your arse i’m telling my kid that it’s not about him and to just get on with life.

Did you know that today june, 18th is international picnic day? comment your 3 picnic must haves...
and before the summer heat arrives in july and august, take your friends and family on a picnic! it’s the perfect way to bask in the sun, enjoy the great outdoors, and share delicious, homemade food and drinks (it isn’t truly a picnic unless it’s homemade!). it really brings back the feelings of nostalgia when i went on picnics growing up where i would spend hours at a park playing and exploring. it was during a time where we had no iphones or ipads and even though technology is the premier way of entertaining today, picnicking is a great break from all that. .
check out my stories to see my must haves plus a list of my favorite local parks!
