"good morning!" said bilbo, and he meant it. the sun was shining, and the grass was very green. but gandalf looked at him from under long bushy eyebrows that stuck out further than the brim of his shady hat.
"what do you mean?" he said. "do you wish me a good morning, or mean that it is a good morning whether i want it or not; or that you feel good this morning; or that it is a morning to be good on?"
"all of them at once," said bilbo. "and a very fine morning for a pipe of tobacco out of doors, into the bargain.
after watching gandalf's countenance and realising he's a wizard, "good morning!" bilbo said at last. "we don't want any adventures here, thank you! you might try over the hill or across the water." by this he meant that the conversation was at an end.
"what a lot of things you do use good morning for!" said gandalf. "now you mean that you want to get rid of me, and that it won't be good till i move off."
this p(l)ot of old gold on a busy saturday over a spot of lunch = heaven. and the leaves of this creeper reminded me of the leaves of lothlórien. 'not idly do the leaves of lórien fall...'♥️ tell us about your favourite tolkien. anyone read beyond hobbit or the middle earth trilogy? ✒/📸 debbie
Today’s #bookmytown18 post prompt was somewhere by water. i have to say, this was 100% the hardest prompt to find a picture for. if i had been at home, it wouldn’t been no problem. the tiny coastal town where i grew up has gorgeous beaches and lovely marsh views. in contrast, the landlocked, agricultural, university town where now live is not exactly overflowing with waterway landscapes. so... i give you... the swamp! honestly, though my best friends and i were driving down a lonely country road and we came upon the loveliest swampy area full of water cypress and mangrove trees. so if nothing else, this prompt helped me to discover a new, beautiful vista in town! #bookstagram#bookish#read#thehobbit#fujifilm#statesboro#georgia#smalltown
