Back on road.
heading back to manila today. on my agenda im getting back on track for the production of my #madeinphilippines cut n sew project i look to drop around march 2018, photoshoots for my upcoming #madeintokyo collection which drops online this month on the 21st, find a good jiu jitsu academy to get some rolls in, video shoot with friends, more networking, lots of reading, more partying and participating in my first streetwear brand fair in the philippines. lots of life; i'm hella thankful for the day.
i put paradise on my back!!! 🇬🇺🌍🌎🌏💸
For as long as i can remember i've had a weird obsession with words. kinda weird that i'm sharing that here because it's not something i ever cared to talk about, but i have hundreds of quotes in my notebooks and phone memos of words that make me feel some type of way. i love basing my design off words because i leave it up to you to interpret the meaning. i can't design anything too straightforward because i always want people to look at my work and question it or to look at these words and reflect on their own experiences in life. me vs me was something that crossed my mind when i realized that even my darkest insecurities that pressure me to live to please others is just the demon inside myself unaccepting of the person in the mirror. my art is a reflection of where my mind was at in that moment of creation, and not everything was meant to represent a happy point in time. through my work i also want people to feel like i'm just like them, and that i understand them. losses become wins when you learn. today i believe everything viewed as a loss is a lesson in disguise, and that thought alone pushes me to conjure up ideas that are bigger than myself. ideas that scare me, but excite me and tickle my curiosity even more. we can't lose...we really can't. accepting anything as a loss is a decision we make in or own heads. everything i'm not made me everything i am.
2011 - forever; my clothes speak for you and talk about where you are mentally without you having to open up your mouth about it. catch this design embroidered on the backside of a fresh black tee included in my upcoming collection that drops online at www.thenativeworldwide.com on the 21st. i just gotta mention too that my collars are a custom material designed to maintain it's clean and crispy shape wash after wash. i love brands like bape and supreme for what they represent to the culture i love so much but their t-shirt quality is complete garbage; wrinkled bacon collars after 3 washes guaranteed. this is what inspired me to redesign my product 3 years ago. today they're here and looking for a home. only (30) pieces available too, get yours // @thenativeworldwide 🇬🇺🌎🚀
What's good everyone! today i'm pleased to announce my participation in @purveyr's #pursuitfair. this will be my first time participating in an off island gathering of numerous other streetwear brands. i'll be the only one repping paradise, guam and feeling very proud to be doing so. in my last trip to manila i was fortunate enough to meet @marvinconanan through @marcokatigbak; marvin mentioned this event to me and invited me. i basically jumped on board last minute just a few weeks away from show day. literally just paid for my booth and booked my ticket without thinking twice...i've discovered countless times how amazing spontaneous decisions can play out, and i really look forward to sharing my story with as many people around the world as much as possible. i look forward to establishing new relationships with people i connect and believe in. i believe that just like how oddly enough most founders of our favorite streetwear brands today all crossed paths early on in their careers the same will happen for me as i look to expand into the asia market at the age of 23. i foresee many of us doing big things and talking about how we all met at pursuitfair in 2017 with not much to show for. today i look at asia and see things only starting to churn. people are only now starting to "get it", and appreciation and understanding for music and fashion is at an all time high. i'm so thankful for all of this to be happening in my region as a ticket to the us costs an arm and a leg. i'm doing the most with what i have, and just putting myself out there. i'll be traveling alone and representing my brand at my booth. this move excites me because i feel like i'm just starting my journey again rather this is just an all to familiar chapter that i get to re-do and do better this time around. sure you can connect with the world through the internet, but to me you can never beat meeting people face to face. thank you to all who support me on my journey and continue to wish me well in life. this is the happiest i've ever been. i'm curious yet ready for whatever happens. i'm blessed, and i never lose i only learn. nobody can take this from me, i am alive.
Hafa adai guam! today we are pleased to announce the official release date for our upcoming holiday 2017 collection!!! on december 21st you can purchase a very very special piece of our brand history on our webstore at www.thenativeworldwide.com, and we'll ship your garments to you for f-r-e-e! this collection is special because it's our first time getting a batch of clothes made in japan; it took two long trips to tokyo, several months apart and a lot of communicating to bring this to life. this wasn't easy to pull off as resources were scarce and it was very costly not only to produce the clothes but to ship them to guam. either way we weren't going to let anything stop us from getting this #madeintokyo collection to you guys. this collection will feature t-shirts, hats and a hoodie so there's definitely something for everybody. all garments are really high quality and made to last, guaranteed. about only 100 pieces available as well. although this won't be our last time making clothes in japan; this drop represents a very pivotal moment in our brand history forever and we see these garments as being something worth collecting or holding onto forever. as we continue to put guam on the map in a different way it's a goal to get clothes made in all corners of the globe. if fashion was ever fused with a winners mindset it'd be this very brand we created for you. we want to elevate the game and keep our hands in projects that mean so much more for the people who support us. more than clothes this is a lifestyle for everybody.
Back in paradise, guam 📍
this was taken before we departed from tokyo; feeling bitter sweet and missing my friends out there but i know this is just the beginning of what's going to be an amazing 2018. god has blessed me in abundance this year and words can't explain how grateful and motivated i am to see things through. happy thanksgiving to you and your loved ones. today i want to say that i'm thankful for all my family, friends and supporters; life wouldn't be the same without any of you. i remember when i first posted about @thenativeworldwide and got a lot of hate. i was honestly crushed and wondered why people didn't see my vision nor did they support it. there are many tho whom i consider day one supporters; people who were there when i had friends distributing stickers in other high schools or people who were there when the bell would ring and they'd line up behind my trunk for t-shirts. it makes me pretty emotional to think that far back because it was so f*****g hard to believe in myself and to know that i could take it this far. no one will ever know my story as well as i do, and every single day i get flashbacks of the many moments i wanted to quit or rebrand. i hated the name thenative; i thought it was cool at first then weird months later. today i thank god for putting that idea in my head and allowing me to live long enough to see what this brand represents for not only myself but those who embody this lifestyle of self-love and the constant pursuit of our dreams. it's not the easiest thing to do to accept the person in the mirror; i battle demons too everyday but all it ever took for me was one person to say they appreciated my work for me to know i was doing something right. you see for every 10 people who dislike you 1 will be down to ride, and that number multiplies as you go. i appreciate everyone no matter what because today i see life so much differently. just because it's thanksgiving doesn't mean i'm not going to grind today, and i hope you have it in you to put some work in too. my rule is...at least 1% every day...and as long as i know that im living with purpose and positive intentions i could never lose. god is good, all the time ~
"cantstopwontstop" has been our brand motto since 2014. we had just overcome a huge obstacle being doing our first pop-up shop at a club which was mainly us creating our own space to share our brand when all the stores we looked up to on island denied us a space on their racks/shelves (which was ok, no emotion in business) but after doing so csws came to represent the feeling of facing new problems everyday before we achieved our goals and proceeded to reach a little higher. it never ends; the destination looks amazing in our heads but really it's the journey that we chip away at everyday where the real stories of struggle and hardships are told. #csws is for those who refuse to let life weigh heavy on them, and has been the mantra said every single time life got tough. when money and relationships are lost or nowhere to be found our faith and belief in ourselves is all we have. the truth is loneliness has been a huge role in where we're at today. overcoming obstacles by yourself is pretty empowering. we highly suggest building a team with the right people, but the most important thing is to know, understand, accept and believe in ourselves first.
Wassup world!!! here's a friendly reminder that starting tomorrow and for two days only (oct 9 - oct 10) we'll be selling our popular script logo hats for just $35.00, and the best part is that we're even throwing in free shipping! wanted this promo to be as convenient for you guys as possible; it really will only take about 2-minutes to order yours!!! this is a deal that we've definitely never offered before so depending on how well you guys react to it will dictate whether we do it again or not! these hats were produced in a very limited quantity as always, and after released them at the gax event just two weeks ago we've already sold over 80% of of our stock!!! don't sleep on these wardrobe necessities! almost every fit looks clean with a hat, and our black and light wash denim offerings are a sure classic designed to match with almost anything you choose to pair them with. thanks again for all the love and support guys! you keep us goin and allow us to move onto the next big play. buy these hats and show your support! we have great news coming soon!!! much love.
