How long do you take to get onto an injury ?
the pinch i took on the shoulder while doing #fortress at #spartan last week turns out to be developing into a major injury
within a week i have seen my regular physio, followed up with a second appointment, my gp, an x-ray, already been into see a shoulder specialist now with an urgent mri booked for tomorrow.
everyone in my health team has taken this injury seriously and worked with urgency to get me answers as quick as possible. .
i miss working out. i miss my gym and the smiling faces. it’s only been a week but while i want to be rushing back i needed the calm level head of my physio to go no! stop me doing more damage and be taken out for longer. thankfully she still gave me some things i can do at home. everyone has taken my fitness and how i like to train seriously. my shoulder specialist made a note that i need strength in an overhead position and noted and circled #s****h #overheadsquat and #shoulderpress 3 times 😂 he gets it. . #injured#canttrain#cantrun#canfocusonrecovery#controlwhatyoucancontrol#goodfoodgoodfuel#amendedtraining#thinkingforward#gratitude#mindset#surroundyourselfwiththebest
“new america foundation’s hannah emple says the rise in credit checks for jobs presents a race-neutral façade, calling it “operationalizing racial discrimination.” in other words, using systems and policies that perpetuate racism.
in 2012, demos national survey on credit card debt examined low and middle-income households. the survey showed that credit checks keep one out of ten workers unemployed.
that rate is much higher for black workers.
in fact only a quarter of black households have scores over 700 and only 44 percent would say they have good credit.
while the fair credit reporting act does permit employer credit check, demos says it’s not designed to be a screening tool.
the great recession of 2008 hit black people hardest, and we are still recovering from it. how can we repay our debts if we can’t get a job?
auntie maxine came to try to save the day.
@repmaxinewaters (d-calif.) introduced the fair credit reporting improvement act of 2014. the bill’s goal was to reduce derogatory marks from seven to four years and remove settled debts, giving people a better chance to improve their credit.
Nature used as a healer 🍃 it’s world mental health day today. a term that shouldn’t make us flinch anymore. what i’ve learned is that you have to go out and find what works for you. i’ve been doing a lot of healing over the past two years. it hasn’t been easy, and at times i didn’t want to keep fighting through the demons. but i did, and i’m in the best place that i have been in my life 🍁 having suffered through mental health difficulties myself, i have mad respect and empathy for anyone fighting similar demons. all we need to do is be kind to one another and remember that our journeys are all different ❤️ and let’s just be there for each other. it’s more important now than ever before
