3 exercises you can do if you're overweight. -

if you're overweight and don't want to be, have joined the gym but are unsure of what you can do, give these a try. -

you've taken a brave step going into a fitness environment and its now time to make the most of it. this is as much your territory as it is anyone else's. -

1) "the deadmill" - stand on the belt of the treadmill but don't switch it on. that's right. just out your hands on the panel, push and start a walking pace. the belt will move from the pressure you put on it. less impact on your joints, safer and gives you the change to work your legs, arms and lungs!
do 40 seconds on- 20 seconds off. -

2) "dumbell press" - for ladies and gents. grab some dumbell, lie back on a bench and push them above you. it's a stationary exercise and gives you a good, solid platform with which to use some strength. if it gets too much you back just drop them either side.
go for a comfortable weight.
12 reps for 4 sets. -

3) "stand ups" - looks simple, but you'll feel them. cross your arms over , push through your heels, lean forward and stand up. stay controlled on the way down. do enough of these and it will really benefit you long term. -

remember, if you want to lose weight you're doing yourself a favour by starting with exercise. 6 months from now you'll be glad you did!
