🌎🌟 dumbbell pullover informational
firstly, in my opinion, the pullover, especially the dumbbell version, should be a mainstay in every’s back routine, and some chest routines as well (this movement works both depending on how you execute). the dumbbell pullover is an exercise executed by moving the load from maximum proximal location (towards the head) to as far distal (towards the feet) as possible in as much of a straight line as possible. one big lat contraction, and one big lat stretch, moving through the elbows (as with almost every back movement) with little to no contribution from the biceps and triceps.
in addition the pullover is the only way to “isolate” the lats (because only a very small handful of exercises, most machines, are true isolation) without the rhomboids, teres, or traps getting involved. i also prefer this movement with a band accompanying the dumbbell (there’s two bands here) because it forces you to engage the lats through the entirety of the rom and removes the relinquishing of tension that happens without the band because of gravity. include this exercise either at the beginning or the end (me here in this video) of your next back routine and give it a go 💪💥
