what is the true cost of eating meat 🌏
”vegetables have a footprint of about 322 litres per kg, and fruits drank up 962, meat was far more thirsty: chicken came in at 4,325l/kg, pork at 5,988l/kg, sheep/goat meat at 8,763l/kg, and beef at a stupendous 15,415l/kg. some non-meat products were also pretty eye-watering: nuts came in at 9,063l/kg. to put these figures into context: the planet faces growing water constraints as our freshwater reservoirs and aquifers dry up. on some estimates farming accounts for about 70% of water used in the world today. farms contribute to water pollution in a range of ways: some of those are associated more closely with arable farming, and some with livestock, but it’s worth remembering that one-third of the world’s grain is now fed to animals. the fao believes that the livestock sector, which is growing and intensifying faster than crop production, has “serious implications” for water quality. the types of water pollution include: nutrient (nitrogen and phosphorus from fertilisers and animal excreta); pesticides; sediment; organic matter (oxygen demanding substances such as plant matter and livestock excreta); pathogens (e coli etc); metals (selenium etc) and emerging pollutants (drug residues, hormones and feed additives). the impacts are wide-reaching. eutrophication is caused by excesses of nutrients and organic matter (animal faeces, leftover feed and crop residues) – which cause algae and plants to grow excessively and use up all the oxygen in the body of wate at the expense of other species” - bibi van der zee, the guardian

started my first week of classes, and even though we are just getting started, i do feel quite exhausted by the end of the day. all the new impressions, the mass of information regarding courses and exams and trying to get organized is quite a lot to handle. but i know it’ll be easier once i figure out how to structure and organize my schedule and then settle into a routine with uni work. ☺️ what’s helping me to stay on top of it all right are definitely these superfood lattes! whereas matcha and turmeric latte are quite common, let me introduce you to my smurf + black goji hazelnut lattes. πŸ’œβœ¨πŸ’™
recipe;
2 cups of soy-rice milk
1 tbsp hazelnut butter
1 tbsp maple syrup
1 tsp blue spirulina powder (@unicornsuperfoods )
1 tsp black goji powder (@unicornsuperfoods )
blend milk, hazelnut butter and maple in a high speed blender. decide the base in two, adding the blue & the purple powder into one of each. i used my blender to blend them up separately and froth the lattes at the same time but you can also stir the powder into the milk (make sure no clumps are left), heat it up slightly and then froth the milk! 🍡
the powders are high in their nutritional profile, aim to aid the immune system, increase energy (spirulina) but also help relieve stress (black goji). and they are quite the eye catcher aren’t they? 😏

por baixo da banana e mirtilos, está um batido que fiz com abacate, maçã, uma colher de farinha de aveia que deixei de molho durante a noite e quiwi....bati tudo com água no meu robot (bimby). para completar adicionei sementes de papoila.

yesterday i was binging so much and i promise myself that it was my last binge ever so😱
today for breakfast i eat like 6 pancakes (also i think i should not eat the 6 bc rn my stomach hurts jsjdjsjf) but i don't binge.
