The story of how i found @jamesjeanart s work.
if you read the entire story, your truly a bad a*s and i appreciate the time you spent reading the story behind me finding out who @jamesjeanart was. so it started when i was in art school my 1st year. i didn’t know too much about popular artist because i was an amateur and still obsessed with learning the fundamentals of art so i had been studying the masters from the renaissance and baroque period. so during my 1st year i took notice that more than half the class had this very particular way of drawing and painting. i noticed that it looked very similar or that it was them trying to mimic an artist. so some where between the middle of the semester a classmate of mine was going thru a website and was looking at pictures of someone’s sketchbook.i thought it was someone in our year. when i looked closer i had to ask who’s drawings were those because they seemed like a polished version of the students in my class. i got a reply oh you don’t know @jamesjeanart i looked around and noticed no one was around me and i said nope never heard of him. so the classmate moved out the way for me to review james website. at 1st i was like cool he had a unique signature in his approach and during that time i was into paintings and drawings the dead masters did. so when seeing these very indicate line illustrations i was like it’s too simple i need to see his anatomy studies, figure paintings etc. which he really didn’t have on his site. from that point i wasn’t feeling j to be honest i thought he sucked! but i was a rookie and ignorance was bliss. years go by all the students continued to copy james and i got sick of seeing these weak imitations of an artist i really didn’t think much of. so after i graduate one of my mentors told me about how james jean was this master painter when he was studying in school and i was like bullshit. he told google it, so when i went home i did, and when i saw one of his portrait paintings which was done in acrylic. my jaw dropped it looked like a oil painting with a ton of glazing. i can honestly say holy s**t i was a hater!! i totally judged his work too quick without really continue in comments
