yes, this is one of those “easier said than done” things, i know. but it’s true. if i gave up when things got hard i would have never made or seen any sort of progress. mental progress, physical progress, health progress, what every your goals are... it’s okay to take it day by day or session by session. but, just know that you’ve got this. you’re stronger than you think and you can accomplish more than you can imagine.

Happy friday! went a little mia but got to enjoy the end of my winter break which was much needed! i started to get frustrated with myself because i put on a couple pounds from the holidays and my vacation, but i’m not gonna beat myself up and going to use this as motivation to get right back into it!
isn’t it crazy how the human body works? it can take months to lose weight and feel confident, but it can also take like 3 days to put that weight back on😂 ughh so frustrating!! i blame my sweet tooth!🤪

i’m still blown away that morgan can do these pause snatches with no straps but according to her it’s the back and legs that she feels being the most taxed. ⠀

morgan wanted to do isometric work after the ao, so this was one of the exercises that we decided on to develop strength in the lower back. the shoulders are slightly ahead of the bar at this point in the pull, so the back will be taxed plenty with a pause in this position.⠀

note that this is a true pause, and she waits for me to count to two seconds and tell her to go before she snatches it. when an athlete is performing a pause s****h with a challenging weight, they may have the tendency to not pause at all and instead slow down at the point the pause is supposed to occur. having someone count for you is a great way to keep you accountable (no pun intended). you may also realize that 2 second pauses are a whole lot longer when someone else is counting for you vs. counting for yourself!

Chances are if somebody has ‘dr.’ before their name, you’re going to trust the advice they give. they’re obviously a highly intelligent individual and have spent decades working hard to become an expert in their field. but should they learn to stay in their lane?
above are just four tweets from a medical professional. they shall remain nameless but rest assured they are a medical doctor. one of the most trusted professions in the world, people very readily accept the advice from doctors.
but this advice is a load of s**t.
what dietitian would advocate avoiding whole grains? what about carbohydrates in intrinsically fattening? w*f trusts anecdotes over facts and evidence?!
this individual through their own words, highlights their lack of understanding of basic energy balance (cutting out carbs will reduce your calorie intake assuming you hold all else constant). they also freely admit that facts and evidence will not change their mind – but rather anecdotes with a sample size of 1 and absolutely no control over an endless amount of confounding variables, will change their mind.
imo you clearly shouldn’t trust this individual, they either have a biased agenda or are ignorant to the basic fundamentals of nutrition and appetite.
yet they have a lot of support, people are willing to trust them and take their word as the truth.
it’s easy to understand why people are confused about nutrition, why they don’t know what to believe, when ‘experts’ don’t know the basics themselves.
so i pose the question, should people stay in their field of expertise? and if they don’t, should we hold them to a higher standard than we hold ourselves? (if john from accounting gave you c****y diet advice you’d happily tell him to f**k off wouldn’t you). let me know your thoughts in the comments.

the difference between strength and hypertrophy is a topic i’ve discussed multiple times. however, it’s still one of the most common questions i get. so, here is my explanation💪🏼.

generally, lower reps are for strength and higher reps are for hypertrophy (size). however, most of us are trying to get bigger and stronger. additionally, building strength helps with hypertrophy (size) as well. therefore, you shouldn't be doing one or the other but instead should incorporate both.

how you incorporate both can vary. you can follow an upper/lower split or push/pull/legs where you have dedicated strength days and dedicated hypertrophy days. another option is to start every workout with a main compound lift (like bench or squats) and work in low rep ranges for strength. after that lift, the rest of the workout would be focused on hypertrophy (higher reps). a third option is to separate your training into blocks focused on strength cycles and hypertrophy cycles.

theoretically, you can gain strength without gaining size although the two go hand in hand and incorporating both will likely yield better results no matter what your primary goal is. furthermore, you should always be focused on progressive overload (adding more weight and/or reps over time) on both strength and hypertrophy workouts if you want to continue progressing.

che vi devo dire, stamattina avevo voglia di confronti ed ho cercato la solita foto, una delle prime fatte quando ho iniziato il mio percorso fitness.

pesavo 64kg nella foto del 2015, peso 68 in quella di oggi. ho fatto un grande lavoro di ricomposizione corporea ma anche di "ricomposizione mentale". a destra mi copro il viso con il telefono, a sinistra sguardo fiero e tre metri di capelli in più 🤣

12 days ➡️ i think i see a difference 🤔 and i've definitely lost a few lbs. i've only actually been to the gym once as only just became a member at my new one but have been walking alot... averaging 20k steps a day, 36k being my highest. i've also been cutting down calories making sure i have at least 1000 deficit a minimum of 5 days a week. (watch insta stories daily for these updates). still more body f*t to shred to get to where i once was, but progress is progress. walking won't get you a six pack, my muscle tone is already hiding under the body fat, but walking is great for weight loss. when i say walking, this is fast paced and usually involving hills, not just a slow stroll round the block. my aim is to just keep doing what i'm doing, but get weight training thrown back in the mix in preparation for the remaining flab to go! 🤣

و الجهاز عندنا بالنادي فيه 6 وضعيات

شخصيا اعرف ان الكرسي بالنص و ارجع دواسه القدم لي ورى

ثاني خطوة تحدد مسافه و اتجاه الريل بالطريقة الي تسمح بمدى حركي كامل كذلك تسمح بالشعور بتشغيل عضلة الفخذ الأمامية
.
شخصياً ادفع الجهاز من تحت و المسافه قصيرة بين الريل لأن هذي الطريقه التناسبني
.
ثالث خطوة تاخذ راحتك بالوزن و تنزل بمدى حركي كامل حسب مرونه الجسم بحيث ما يميل العمود الفقري من الاسفل بدرجة مبالغ فيها و كذلك المقعد او عضله القلوتس تضل على البنش
.
رابعاً يفضل انك تنزل لي نهايه الجهاز و تريح نص ثانيه او تتعمد انك تسمع الجهاز يطق بالحديد لكن تكون متحكم بالوزن و ما تنزل بسرعه و الطقة تكون جداً خفيفة.

خامساً مافي مشكله من انك تفرد الريل كاملةً الطريقة هذي ما تضيف ضغط على الركب.
