Whilst we are all for reusing what we already have- there will be a day when you finally run out- and you are left with the dilemma...
luckily there are many sustainable office accessories alternatives nowadays. however, when it comes to glue- i don’t think i ever came across a sustainable version. luckily it could be easily made at home!
diy non toxic glue recipe 🌿
- boil 125 ml water
- add 1 tbsp flour & 1 tbsp cornstarch, and keep on stiring until getting a p***y texture
- remove from heat, and add 1 tbsp white vinegar
you can keep your homemade glue in the fridge for 1 week. 🌿
Moving away from plastic bottles but don't like the soap getting soggy on the soap dish😣i love this diy zero waste soap holder! just stick a bottle cap into the bottom of your soap! it keeps my soap high and dry, and makes it last much longer than anything else i’ve seen.
we grabbed this coffee from home bc coffee shops currently don't allow reusables. but according to @greenpeace "over 125 health experts defend safety of reusables during covid-19 pandemic".
the zero waste movement has seen a dramatic decline in popularity since covid hit, for seemingly obvious reasons, but health experts say that single use-plastics aren't any safer than reusables! due to the international reusables ban, single-use plastic is accumulating faster than ever, and the plastic industry is thriving.
dr. mark miller, former director of research at the national institutes of health's fogarty international center says, “public health must include maintaining the cleanliness of our home, the earth. the promotion of unnecessary single-use plastics to decrease exposure to the coronavirus negatively impacts the environment, water systems, and potential food supply compared to the safe use of reusable bags, containers, and utensils.” (greenpeace, 2020)
please spread the word and email @greenpeace 's statement to restaurants that aren't allowing reusables! google "green peace reusables covid" and it's the first link to show up!
Have a bunch of basil and want more without heading to the store?
i trimmed the ends of this basil, put it in water for a couple of weeks and hairy roots grew. it’s now ready to be transplanted in soil. this is quite a bit of basil, so i’ll divide it up into a few bunches before i plant it. you can plant this in a p*t and set it in a sunny window indoors or out, or you can plant directly into the soil.
as your basil grows, do as i say and not as i do and pinch off those white flowers that you see here so it will keep growing rather than go to seed. this basil, like me, is in dire need of a haircut.
this trick also works well for green onions. link in profile for more details on the basil.

Deodorant in a paper tube?? is it really working? 🤔
paper tube packaging is great for our planet, but we agree it can be awkward!
it makes production tricky and it is 5 to 7 times more expensive than plastic 😱 'push' not 'twist', 'hard to close', 'clumsy' all require some getting use to but we promise it would become second nature!😉😍
if you are still not sure on how to use our deodorants, don't give up and contact us! we will be happy to help you in your zero waste journey 💚
Okay. this was unreal. @birchandboar smoked tofu is officially my fav! and jake and i made some easy @buzzfeedtasty vegan cauliflower buffalo wings, which, let me tell you....tasted 100000000x better done in the air fryer! (highly recommend getting one if you can) just another plant based and cruelty free dinner in the books.

i did a closet cleanout of all the items i have scarcely worn in a year and posted them to sell online. but, suddenly...i fell for my own marketing, saw my pieces with fresh eyes and felt a powerful pull to take them off of poshmark and keep them for myself lol.
now, a) i have more clothes than i need and have no business keeping all of these, and b) there's a reason i haven't worn these pieces in over a year! but the hoarding monkey brain is a powerful thing to overcome.
the next time i get "bored" with my wardrobe and default to buying new pieces as a way to curb that dissatisfaction/boredom, maybe a better solution is to get creative with what i already have and find ways to see my possessions with fresh eyes.
my brain's default (and probably yours too) is to assume that new and more is always better. unlearning this is a bitch, but i'm getting there!

”ugly fruit” is often left on shelves because of our modern day beauty standards for food. beauty standards for food...think about that for a second.
once you peel, slice or chop it it’s all the same!
pick the “ugly fruit” and make it beautiful (while saving food from landfill). cinderella has got enough air time... it’s time to choose her sisters.
Real talk: 👀👂🏼
as a small, woman business owner i think, breathe, obsess, dream and live my business 24/7. i am mostly a “one-woman show”, besides some ride-or-dies that help keep me afloat and coasting forward. all ordering, packaging, budgeting, designing, marketing, advertising, shipping, vending, falls on my shoulders🤯
and every single day... i am grateful and full of wonder that i am able to do it all, and love the business whole heartedly through it all 🌏🌻💚
being a small business means you got to show up, everyday, warm or cold, rain or shine, pandemic or no pandemic, happy or sad, ya gotta show up! most small business owners do because... they love their businesses! they love what they’re doing, they are passionate about what they’re doing, and also, they need to make a living from what they’re doing! 💯
this weekend i spent standing behind a table (shown) meeting and greeting potential customers. it was 90 degrees, i was suffocating in a mask, i had to set up and take down by myself, and yet... i stood around thinking... d**n i’m so lucky to be here! i’m so lucky to be able to quit one job (i still got two more 😮) to be able to pursue my dreams of making the world a brighter, greener place. genuinely trying to make a difference, trying to learn, teach, advocate, and provide real alternatives to real people 🌿✨
owning a small business is more than a full-time job, it’s a work-out, a mental struggle, a financial juggling game, the stress of running business is a strain on a marriage (shout out to all the very patient and loving partners of small business owners) 🙌🏼😘
above it all, our customers, our tribe, our followers, our believers, our family and friends, keep us motivated, dedicated, hungry, and about all... passionate! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
let me hear y’all! let me hear from all of you small business owners! comment below and let me know... what keeps you going?! 🤔
What's your favourite secondhand score?
you know, it's funny - almost everything i buy these days is secondhand (i've got a ton of access and privilege, living in toronto!), but i'm still flabbergasted at how many awesome thrift finds are out there.😱
like, check out this antique sewing box. it cost me $30 four years ago, and since then it's been a coffee table, blanket holder, hat/scarf/gloves cupboard, and it even conveniently hides our ugly af fire horn that has to stay plugged into the wall at all times. (obviously safety comes first, but i'm really not exaggerating when i tell you it looks gross.😂😑)
look - i'm not saying you should buy s**t you don't need just because it's secondhand. but if you have a need for something, why not try to thrift it?
👉 let me know which secondhand item you love most! also any creative ideas for how to hide an ugly-ass fire horn?!
🗯️ [image description: sara's wooden antique sewing box is resting next to a white wall. it has a plant on top of it, and it's got hats and mitts inside it so she doesn't freeze her hiney off in winter (because canada🥶).]

Making progress on a very difficult pair of pants to #mend not that the #patchwork was hard to figure out. the pant fabric is very densely woven and likes to grab my needle if more then 2 stitches are loaded. i’ve decided to embrace it rather then fight it. slowing down and being present is good heart heart magic. #stitchmeditation
